Today, we celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day, a day that reminds us of the incredible power of kindness and compassion! 💫 Random Acts of Kindness Day is observed on the 17th February each year. It provides an opportunity for people worldwide to come together and make the world a better place through their thoughtful actions. It encourages individuals to perform simple, unexpected acts of kindness to brighten someone's day and create a ripple effect of positivity. So, what better way to commemorate this day than by joining our mission to make a positive impact in our local primary schools. In a world where internet safety and cyberbullying have become pressing concerns, we had a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in one of our local schools. The Barney and Echo educational resources aim to address these issues and provide essential child protection classes in primary schools. The Barney & Echo series features engaging stories and activities related to key Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) topics for kids in Key Stage 1-2. From the environment to personal safety, anti-social behaviour to internet safety, these resources are designed to empower and educate young minds. We have sponsored Barney and Echo resources for our local primary school, As government funding for child protection classes is limited. Our sponsorship will enable teachers to supply the program materials that educate children about staying safe online and the effects of bullying. Let's work together to create a safer online environment for our kids! You can visit www.barneyecho.co.uk for more information on these valuable resources for local school projects if you would like to help. Let's show our kindness by empowering the next generation with the knowledge they need to stay safe online and make better choices. #RandomActsofKindness #ChildProtection #InternetSafety #BarneyandEcho #EducationMatters #SpreadKindness

Hey LinkedIn Community! I'm stoked to finally be on this platform and connect with like-minded individuals who are all about making a real difference in the lives of young people. As a teen founder of an afterschool program, a passionate child rights advocate, and chair of the Landservice Committee, I'm super keen to learn from others who are just as driven to create positive change. Through my experiences, I've seen firsthand how education, leadership, and advocacy can be total game-changers. Running my afterschool program has taught me the value of guiding and supporting others, working together as a team, and getting the community involved. As a child rights activist, I've fought for every kid's right to quality education and a safe space to grow. And as chair of the Landservice Committee, I've led initiatives that promote taking care of the planet and developing sustainably. I'd love to hear your stories: What gets you fired up about education, child rights, and building stronger communities? What obstacles have you faced, and how did you overcome them? What strategies have you found that really drive social change? Let's build a network that lifts each other up, challenges our thinking, and learns from each other's experiences. I'm looking forward to having some deep conversations and exploring ways we can work together to make an even bigger impact. #NewToLinkedIn #AfterSchoolProgram #ChildRights #Leadership #Landservice #SocialImpact #Education #Collaboration"

Yesterday I gave a presentation to a group of designated teachers about the views of foster carers and adopters on the education of their children and young people. Key issues flagged up were: 1. how or even whether to give care experienced children an opportunity to share their story, (does that break down barriers, reduce stigma and help a child feel understood, or make them more vulnerable / call them out?) Vital we all respect the child’s wishes in this regard. 2. The importance of recognising when a child is masking at school and their struggles go unnoticed, putting significant pressure on the family and home life as the stress / overwhelm comes out in potentially damaging ways 3. Recognising toxic shame and how to deal with it appropriately (through attunement, repair, accepting the child’s inner world, allowing the naming of feelings and providing strategies for calming). 4. How effective, timely, appropriate communication between the child, school, parent / carer and wider team around the child can help everyone feel heard, and enable a proactive response to issues, concerns etc as they become known. In addition, how important it is to share how certain triggers, events, celebrations, topics etc can create a stress response in a child and recall of traumatic memories, and how to look after a child safely. Thanks so much to Leicester City Council’s Virtual School Team for the opportunity.

If home feels like a war zone and school is just another battlefield, how can we expect a child not to rebel? Imagine growing up in a place where there’s constant fighting at home and relentless pressure at school. For some kids, this is their reality. When the very places that should provide love and learning become sources of stress and conflict, it’s no surprise that some children start to push back against it all. They’re not born rebels—they’re shaped by the world around them. As parents, teachers, and community members, we need to ask ourselves: Are we creating spaces where kids feel safe and supported, or are we pushing them to their breaking points? It’s on us to build environments that foster growth, not rebellion. Let’s create homes and schools that feel like havens, not battlegrounds. #Parenting #Education #Childhood #Community #Support

Does your child care center have an “open door policy”? No, not in the sense of actual open doors. Rather, a virtual “open door” policy that unlocks a new world of transparency and insights into your child’s day-to-day. At Lightbridge Academy, our Journey App and ParentView® internet monitoring stand as pillars of our commitment to transparency. Beyond just an app, we've made a conscious decision to install live cameras in all our classrooms, offering unprecedented access to enrolled families. ParentView empowers guardians to stay connected with their child's day-to-day activities, fostering a sense of involvement and reassurance. As we continue into 2024, we know it's our responsibility to leverage technology and innovations to create an environment of openness and security for our families. At Lightbridge Academy, we believe that every child's journey is made brighter when families are part of each step. #LightbridgeAcademy #EducationTechnology #Transparency #SafetyInSchools #ParentView #JourneyApp #OpenDoorPolicy #ChildSafety #EducationForAll

Why is family engagement important? According to Youth.gov, research shows that parental or family engagement in a child’s education can improve their test scores, attendance, social skills, relationships, behavior and how a child feels about school. Why is family engagement associated with such positive outcomes? Family engagement works because it creates: Connected kids, Connected adults and Connected schools or institutions. Do not forget to have fun! Family engagement events and activities are supposed to be just that, engaging! When families spend time having fun together, they create strong bonds and build trust together.(MSU.edu). #cadepartmentofeducation #barnesandnoble #librarybooks #educationmatters #STEAMeducation #learningtogether #aprendiendojuntos #librosparaniños #amazonbooksforchildren #criticalthinking #creativity #preschoolteachers #educaciontemprana #earlyeducation #booksthatinspire #headstart #preschool #learningathome #elrincondemayte #mariascreativeworkshop #STEAMCoach #STEAMactivitiesforkids #preschoolengineering #staffdevelopmenet #professionaldevelopment #STEAMcoach

Catch-Up Clubs are a cost-effective, easily scalable model that leverages community volunteers to provide remedial education for academically vulnerable students. So far these clubs have addressed learning loss in 13 countries where children were out of school for extended periods due to COVID-19, displacement, or #migration.
