Hospitality businesses can clean up their local area even though the mess might not be yours! At my own venues I'd often pick up a broom and go sweep the footpath around the venue and the nature strip removing litter I thought it was just part of making the venue: • maintain high standards • present professionally • look cared for and I always spoke to customers and neighbours and they saw me doing it, and noticed I cared There are also opportunities for you to: • pick litter up from parks or beaches • focus on plastic on beaches and riverbanks • tidy up elderly neighbours gardens for them you get the idea If you do it in an organised way you might get some branded tops made with the name of your venue on it. Whilst you're not doing it for this, you might get some staff to video each other and post it I know things are tight but paying your staff a few hours a week or month to do this and generate some positive PR whilst you're: • engaging your people • supporting your community • keeping your local natural environment clear Just an idea...
