I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Diversity and inclusion in the workplace from The Open University! This course supported the demonstration of the following learning outcomes: recognise the value of a diverse workplace and the potential benefits to both individuals and organisations; identify a range of diversity characteristics and better understand discrimination in context; consider barriers to effective diversity and inclusion, and describe the skills and strategies needed to overcome them; explore strategies for recruiting and retaining staff, and for creating an inclusive culture that supports career progression; reflect on personal experiences and potential biases, identifying individual and organisational goals to enhance workplace culture and productivity. #DiversityandInclusion #InclusiveCulture #DiversityTraining #InclusiveLeadership #diversityequityandinclusion

Could you volunteer an hour of your time to inspire and instil confidence in our future graduates? Last term at UoN we undertook a collaborative student led project between the Careers and Employability Service and the Students’ Union to design our new ‘Get Connected’ offer. Following research undertaken by our students we’ve identified an opportunity to amplify the voices and share the lived experiences of our community, with the aim of providing students with an insight into the authentic lived workplace experiences of others and to empower them to feel more confident to bring their authentic selves to work when they graduate. We’re looking for individuals who would be comfortable having a filmed ‘conversation with’ style chat with one of our students and share their own experiences. We’ve identified some topics we’d love to cover during this project but are open to other themes and topics – we recognise that intersectionality means individuals may well be able to talk comfortably about more than one of the below as part of their chat. If you would be interested in finding out more please email [email protected] 👉 Experience of being trans in the workplace 👉 Coming out during the recruitment process / workplace 👉 Dealing with racial microaggressions in the workplace 👉 Examples of positive inclusion practices in the workplace 👉 Experiences and advice on being a woman in the workplace 👉 Feeling able to be your authentic self at work 👉 Being a parent in the workplace 👉 Overcoming cultural bias in the workplace

Creating cohesive cultures in education, technology, & the workplace. Champion for black girls/women of Gen Z.
Inclusive cultures in education, technology, and the workplace don't just happen. Thinking they just happen sets everyone up for failure. Creating an inclusive culture is a shared responsibility. It's up to all of us to take consistent action, whether addressing bias, offering support, or educating ourselves. There's something everyone can do, and together, we can create effective, cohesive cultures. #Inclusion #Culture #Education #Technology #Workplace #Empathy

Imagine you're giving out medium-sized t-shirts to your team. While some people can use them, they don't fit everyone. Offering a variety of sizes would make the shirts more beneficial to a larger number of people. In the same way, it's important to recognize that everyone on our team has different strengths and needs. By acknowledging these differences and providing more and more opportunities that match each person's unique abilities, we can help everyone succeed. Let's focus on supporting each other's personal and professional growth, and create an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to do their best. Treating everyone based on their individual capabilities and offering chances to grow within the organization will lead to a more dynamic and productive team. #employers #employees #recognition #capabilities #motivation #organizations #equality #opportunities #graduates #work

We had our first #glp class on a Saturday today and so far its been full of fun and learning interesting things. Our most recent assignment is to find ways on how to expand workplace #diversity and #inclusion. I came across an article that was full of tips on this topic. Having a sense of diversity can develop new products and ideas to any situation that someone may run into. Inclusive cultures make people feel valued and proud of the culture they are apart of which is very important. Being the first person to spot out differences existing in the workplace will help to consciously bring inclusiveness and initiate diversity as well. Diversity in the workplace shows that jobs that are inclusive are more likely to create a workforce that reflects a variety of backgrounds and experiences. To apply this in life now and even in the future, I will make sure that everyone’s opinions are talked about and understood to any extent. #getinvolved #team #inthistogether
