🌍" With CSR, you fight against and with everyone" Patricia Tranvouëz, CEO at INULA 🌱 ➡️ Very candid admission by a veteran of the beauty & cosmetics sector, ex-Unilever, l’Oreal & LVMH, former CEO of #Sephora and #Etam, during the 2nd edition of #Sustainabilitytalks by INDEFI, Amala Partners & Omada last week in Paris which I had the pleasure to moderate in front of a targeted audience of #PE investors, #familyoffice, etc. Patricia Tranvouëz, who also describes herself as a ‘Head of Tribe’ (6 children at home, feeling like a lightweight with my 3!!!) took the helm of the integrative & complementary medicine specialist back in March 2022, attracted by its #sustainability transformation proposition. 🌿Inula Group is a high-growth Belgian company, owner of the Pranarôm, HerbalGem & Biofloral brands, acquired by French PE powerhouse Ardian back in 2018 (with annual revs of c. EUR 120 mln) The European leader of natural therapies (aromatherapy medicinal plants) operates in the fast-growing integrative and complementary medicine market: USD144.68 bln of value globally in 2023 ; forecast to grow 25.3% p.a. (CAGR) until 2030 (Grand View Research). ✅The three pillars of Inula’s CSR policy (Improve health and life; Act for the Environment; Share know-how) include: value creation & business transformation, a key role to develop the natural health sector, and the belief that CSR, far from being a cost, is a driver of performance and margin improvement. ➡️Patricia describes it as the "backbone" of the company, fully integrated into its business model. 💡Main challenges/tips to successfully implement a CSR strategy: * Remaining focused: in each area of change, Inula chose 3 key topics, divided into 3 pillars (initially started with 45 topics to ultimately focus on the most impactful). * Some resistance to change internally due to misconceptions about CSR initiatives being costly & value destructive. However, investments in eco-responsible practices (eco-packaging for inst.), do not result in higher costs or radically change work practices. *Scope3/Supplier performance: currently 60% of suppliers certified = helped grow margin by 3 pts in 2 yrs. *Internal dialogue and s/holder engagement key: Ardian committed to CSR, no need to convince about value : agreed on business plan, emphasising responsibility to generate EBITDA, while progressing in an environment favorable to CSR. When dialoguing with the energetic, pragmatic and driven Patricia, couldn't help but think that: "If you want to get something done, ask a busy person" (normally a woman).
