Incompatible with VCs is, according to Chris Smith, one of the reasons why founders don't get from the 1st call to a 2nd call with the VC. 2006, when I started working in this space, finding information about VCs was challenging. It was often in the first meeting when founders and VCs had the first chance to check whether they were compatible. The meetings were not video calls. They were real-life meetings, which meant much traveling for founders and VCs to get the first piece of information: Are we generally a potential fit? Today, in the age of the internet, AI, and podcasts, the dynamics changed. They are much better for both parties at the negotiation table. Many VCs are podcast guests sharing their beliefs, values, and visions. While arranging calls with Venture Funds on the longlist, founders should check whether the partners have been on podcasts and listen to what they say. It helps prioritize the long list. Great info. With more AI we're going to see more scalable companies with less funding. Of course, there will always be companies that need to play the typical VC game: seed, Series A, B, C, D... with higher and higher valuations. However, there are only so many companies that have the scalability to make it under that model. And that's what most VCs are looking for. I'm working with a team that will be funding lots of startups that fit the non-VC category. Why not fund lots of startups that can take $1MM, turn it into a profitable $20MM per year? #venturestudio #startups #investing
