Racing drivers often don't make great road drivers. Safe progress around corners is all about visibility, not clipping the apex which is a common myth. I quietly grimace when people tell me how they "clip the apex" on public roads. Let me state this … "racing lines" are for race tracks. Effective and safe cornering on public roads is actually far more complex as there are more unknowns, possibilities and permutations on every corner. It’s another skill set entirely. #forgettheapex #advanceddriving #driverperformance Join DM for advanced driving tips each week https://lnkd.in/eQbmQsBd

#GRRhistoric #video. Grand Prix racing before Formula 1, before the Second World War, was absolutely mental: the speeds were unbelievable, the power was off the charts, the machinery was otherworldly. #goodwood #goodwoodelevenses The Goodwood Group #autos #autosport #automotive #automotiveindustry #cars #racing #sports #classiccar #classiccars #motorracing #motorsport

No company is perfect and there are a lot of companies that don't even do the bare minimum for their employees. I grew up seeing more than one employer unfairly treat my Dad with less than grace and dignity. So seeing Roush Yates Engines do meaningful gestures such as this where they honor the lives of employees means a lot and goes a long way. One of the fun parts of my job is to help share the story of things like this that our company does. #Team | #Employees | #SocialMedia | #NASCAR
After each NASCAR race win, we hang the Sunoco Race Fuels checkered flag on the walls of our engine and manufacturing facilities to celebrate each Ford Performance engine win. What many might not know about this tradition, if an employee passes away, we honor the family by sending them the most recent checkered flag. We then hang an empty frame with an engraved note of the employee’s name, “in loving memory.” Our employees are family and our greatest asset; we value and appreciate their time with us and they will always be part of our team! #NASCAR | #FordPerformance | #Manufacturing | Roush Yates Manufacturing Solutions

My wife, Danna Van Noy, and I race a Porsche 991.2 Cup Car and coach each other after each event. Following our race with Porsche Owners Club (POC) at Buttonwillow Raceway, we thought it would be fun to narrate my race together, with her asking me questions like, "What were you thinking there?!" "Why are you getting passed??!!" We describe what goes through a racer's mind at the start, the first corner, and all the racecraft from start to finish. We cover tire degradation, driver fatigue, minimizing mistakes, capitalizing on others' mistakes, and driving at the limit for an entire sprint race. Generic EV race cars with painted on brand names are a bad idea, just like for ICE powered racers. Competing on the track has always been about driver skill and team/manufacturer technology and engineering. One make series are never fan magnets. NASCAR needs to open up their series to ANY manufacturer of EV’s so that new upstart electric vehicle companies can showcase their products in front of American race fans. Rivian y’all?

𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙑𝙚𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝘼𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙮𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙔 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 In the ‘80s and early ‘90s, Ford chose where to compete for specific reasons, and selected series that helped deliver on desired marketing messages. Road racing tested the brand in real-world driving on steroids (i.e., stop – go – left – right), drag racing appealed to the DIY’er for aftermarket parts purchases, and off road truck racing – well, it’s quite obvious what the “Built Ford Tough” connection is there... That brings us to NASCAR. Along with precision teamwork, excellent driving skills, and gobs of power, success in high-speed oval racing relied on a slippery body, based heavily on the production vehicle. Aerodynamics was a competitive advantage, and Ford led the way with an aero-efficient production car with the Thunderbird. Success on the high banks validated the design of the street car. NASCAR’s size and popularity also helped Ford with its decision to compete there! #aerodynamics #ford #fordhistory #fordperformance #fordperformanceracingschool #fordracing #knowyourroots #nascar #racing #roots #thunderbird #waybackwednesday

This article shares how in the early 1950s, Mercedes-Benz sought new sales strategies in the post-war era, leveraging its racing experience to enhance its car lineup. The 300SL Gullwing, derived from the victorious W194 race car, was introduced, but its high price made it a niche product. To appeal to a broader market, Mercedes launched the 190SL. Priced more affordably and based on the Ponton W120 sedan, it still featured race-inspired technology like independent suspension on all four wheels. Mercedes initially created a few 190SL prototypes with the Gullwing's 3.0-liter inline-six engine. However, the production models sold between 1955 and 1963 were equipped with a more modest 1.9-liter inline-four engine (the M121). This engine shared the 300SL's 85-mm cylinder bore but had two fewer cylinders. You can read the full article here - https://lnkd.in/gv8Kfy8h #Mercedes #MercedesBenz #MiltonKeynesBusiness

MOVEdot meets Wavey Dynamics.: *requesting your questions to be answered!* I am glad to announce that I am partnering with Jahee Campbell-Brennan to create a video series on: RACE vs PASSENGER CARS: EXPLORING THE DUALITY In this series we will discuss the contrasting engineering requirements between race and passenger cars. Having myself migrated from motorsports to passenger car development, I find it fascinating discussing the differences, always backed by vehicle dynamics knowledge. In our first episode we will discuss TIRE REQUIREMENTS AND TIRE PERFORMANCE for race vs passenger tires. Leave below your questions or topics so that Jahee and I can talk about it in the video!

#INDYCAR and RULES ENFORCEMENT, never saw that one coming '!-{) I can't believe it's been almost two years (Apr. 29th 2022) since I retired, after spending 10 years with IndyCar as a member of the Technical / Engineering Group in the role of Race Official & Engine Inspector, and now they start to understand why "Rules Enforcement" is sooooooooooooooo important, for F#%k Sake, I was preaching how easy our job is IFF we follow our own Rules & Competition Regulations and just enforce what in the rule book. Another big anniversary coming up, at its three year mark is the "Fast Friday Boost Scandal" which took place on May 21st 2021. Remember that Doctor Dee? It only took me 20 minutes to uncover the initial violation, and that's because I stopped to brew up a coffee B 4 sitting down to review the data '!-{) https://lnkd.in/g4n5NRzG
