👏🏻 🏗 🏫 We are pleased to announce that another of our D&B Schools projects currently under construction in Ireland has been handed over to the client. Keys of the new school were handed over from KSNPM to the principal from the LMETB, along with representatives from the Department of Education and the JV Contractors OHLA-OHMG JV. Ashbourne Community National School, 16 Classroom Primary School with ancillary accommodation and all associated site work. This was a great team effort from all and is a positive milestone for the overall Design & Build Schools project with Laytown, and Belmayne completions to follow shortly. Thousands of pupils will be educated over the expected lifespan of the buildings, this is something OHLA is proud of as it leaves a lasting positive mark on our society. Managing Director @ T3 Training & Development | Specialist Training Provider Managing Director @ T3 Industry Solutions | RC Detailing & Business Support
I am thrilled to share my recent involvement in discussions about Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) training for MMC Ireland and LOETB - National Construction Training Campus, Mount Lucas. In today's rapidly evolving construction industry, embracing innovation and cutting-edge techniques is crucial. MMC represents the future, offering sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that can revolutionise how we build our homes and infrastructure. During our discussions, we explored various aspects of MMC training, including: Skill Development: Enhancing the skillset of our workforce to master MMC technologies. Curriculum Integration: Integrating MMC training into educational programs to prepare the next generation of construction professionals. Collaboration: Fostering partnerships between industry stakeholders, educational institutions, and training providers to ensure a seamless transition to MMC. Sustainability: Promoting environmentally friendly construction practices to build a greener and more sustainable future. T3 Training & Development are excited to be part of this initiative that aims to reshape the construction landscape in Ireland. It's not just about embracing change; it's about leading it and ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future for our industry. A big thankyou to MMC Ireland and LOETB for inviting me and allowing me to be involved. #Construction #MMC #Training #Innovation #Sustainability #BuildingTheFuture #Ireland #LOETB #MMCIRELAND #ModernMethodsOfConstruction
#FullHouse 👏 Great MMC Ireland member turnout at the LOETB - National Construction Training Campus, Mount Lucas today. Huge thanks to Padraig Boland, Jolene Hall, John Kelly, Yvonne Foy and all the team at Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board for facilitating our visit and to Andy Adams for sharing industry experience. It was fascinating to learn about the different offerings within the Demonstration Park and it is encouraging to hear how these offerings are transitioning and constantly pivoting to meet the needs of industry. In time, we look forward to seeing the new #MMC facility planned! It was great to hear from Liz Thomas about Construction Professionals Skillnet - CPSkillnet courses currently available and about opportunities for our members to shape these. Also, thanks to Céline McHugh, Principal at Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, and Enterprise Ireland's Ross O'Colmain who joined our members at The Johnstown Estate to share updates on new State supports for the MMC sector and what plans are coming down the track. Finally, a special word of thanks to our members for the high level of engagement- it was encouraging to hear from the Chair/Vice-Chairs of our three working groups (Policy, Education & Technical - new recruits wanted 😉) about priority actions for 2023 and beyond. Market activity in the Midlands region in the second quarter of 2024 remains subdued as it struggles to recover from the numerous recent worldwide events that have contributed to the economic downturn in the UK as a whole, as well as the ongoing financial turmoil of Birmingham and Nottingham City Councils. Gleeds continues to support the Department for Education in delivering new schools and colleges across the Midlands as part of its national framework, as well as working with local authorities such as Warwickshire County Council on the delivery of seven schools via the SCAPE framework. Public sector clients are procuring their consultants more than ever via several frameworks open to them to speed up their programmes and avoid the need to tender to the market competitively. SCAPE is a prime example of this, where project teams can be built quickly and efficiently by a lead consultant. For more insight into the local market, read my Midlands update in the latest Gleeds Market Report: https://lnkd.in/enUuErVF #UKconstruction #construction #digitalconstruction #gleedsdigital

Green Skills – Introduction to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) Fully Funded courses at Weymouth College - Empowering the housing sector with tools to support challenges facing the construction industry (LSIF) As a country we are continuing to fail to meet build targets, leaving many families living in temporary accommodation, unfit or unsuitable accommodation. Much of this delay is considered to be driven by build cost inflation, planning delays, nutrient neutrality and other factors. Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) is regularly raised as an opportunity for the residential sector to learn from lessons of modern methods of construction that excel in the retail, health and education sector. So why has MMC not provided the same benefits in the housing sector. Keen to delve into how MMC could benefit the housing sector, Weymouth College will be offering a two-day, fully-funded course for housing sector clients and stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the MMC approach, learning from those who have been delivering MMC homes for social housing providers and helping to develop a greater awareness of MMC for the residential sector. In light of the recent developments pertaining to #RAAC, we would like to put a spotlight on The LHC Modular Buildings (MB2) framework, which covers the design, supply, and installation of permanent, refurbished, and the hire of #temporary #modularbuildings for education buildings such as schools, nurseries, and universities. We set high standards for companies to be appointed to our #frameworks. This ensures our partners procure high-quality products and services at the best price, in balance with their other objectives for the local economy, communities, and the environment. Let's take a look at this brilliant case study by one of our suppliers Premier Modular, appointed on the MB2 framework: The Douay Martyrs Catholic School (Secondary) in Ickenham, which has over 1,500 students, was undergoing an extensive refurbishment, part of which included a new single-storey modular annex. #Decant teaching facilities were required to keep the school fully operational and minimise disruption to education while the main #schoolbuilding was being refurbished. Premier Modular was awarded the contract to supply the decant classrooms under a rental arrangement. Limited space on site meant that the best location for this accommodation was on top of the new modular extension. This involved installation of the #temporaryfacilities while the permanent building was under construction. In total, 36 bespoke modules were installed on this highly constrained school site. By providing the #decantfacilities under a bespoke rental arrangement, the Department for Education was able to provide the best possible learning environment for Douay Martyrs’ pupils during the school redevelopment. The LHC MB2 framework can provide the expertise to deliver temporary classrooms to schools affected by the #RAAC problem. To learn more about MB2, click here:-https://lnkd.in/en53sy7T.
