Most of the times we are looking at the overqualified person getting bored at the job and will jump ship once they have better opportunity. Yet have we ever try to look at the hiring manager instead? The overqualified person might be a great asset to the organisation. A clear growth path must be communicated to the person that he/she will achieved once they have proven their worth with their wealth of experience. Yet the most difficult obstacle is if the hiring manager is able to accept the fact that candidate might one day or even in a short term outrank them (maybe a boss or even the boss of the boss of them)? If the hiring manager is able to overcome this personal obstacle, the organisation actually gained 2 value employees. An experienced employee who will bring value to the organisation and a hiring manager who has a big heart and will go far in the organisation one day!
Are you frequently turned down for interviews because you are considered overqualified for the job? One reason employers do this is because they fear that overqualified candidates may get bored and leave when presented with a better opportunity, explains Amira Chelghoum, head of talent acquisition at Biogen. Understanding this perspective is crucial to addressing these concerns during the interview and effectively conveying your interest and alignment with the position to the potential employer, she suggests. Other ways to deal with being overqualified for a role is to tailor your CV to better match the job description and emphasize transferable skills during the interview. What are some additional strategies for managing rejection when deemed overqualified for a role? Share your thoughts in the comments below. As a headhunter for the life sciences industry, it is important to structure the interview process efficiently. A well-structured process ensures that each stage is completed in a timely manner and candidates do not get left waiting for too long. Having a structured process also helps to maintain consistency and fairness when assessing potential candidates. This means that each candidate can be judged on their individual merits, rather than one candidate having an advantage due to a longer or even more recent and fresh period of assessment. #LifeSciences #Recruiting #JobSeeking
