In India, elephants have been revered for centuries, playing crucial roles in religious ceremonies, festivals, and royal events. They symbolize qualities like wisdom, strength, and loyalty in Hindu mythology. Kings and emperors used elephants in grand processions, showcasing their might and authority. The association of elephants with royalty is also evident in historical texts and art. Elephants were highly valued in warfare, and their use in battles was a symbol of military might. Elephants continue to be an integral part of culture, professional and religious events, often seen carrying deities in processions. The significance of elephants in India extends beyond mere symbolism; it represents a deep-rooted cultural and historical connection, solidifying their status as royal animals. #RoyalElephants #IndianCulture #ElephantSymbolism #HistoricalSignificance #CulturalHeritage #ElephantTraditions #RoyalProcessions #HinduMythology #ElephantBond #IndianRoyalty #WarElephants #SacredAnimals

our latest photo essay.
In a solemn display of religious devotion, thousands of Shiite Muslim mourners gathered in the interiors of Dal Lake to observe the 9th day of Muharram. Embarking on wooden boats from Rainawari to Kaenkech, they commemorated Ashura, honouring the martyrdom of Prophet Hussain's grandson and faithful companions in Karbala, a tradition upheld with fervour for centuries in Kashmir. 📸 Fahim Mattoo and Sadaf Shabir 🔗Click the link to view the full photo essay! https://lnkd.in/dUjgVcwa #dallake #dallakesrinagar #daljheel #muharram

The price of peace - me The prince of peace - Jesus "I am my own greatest obstacle to peace!" Dom Helder Camara of Recife (1909-1999) Not unlike the Apostle Paul who said “I am the chief of sinners”. (1 Tim. 1:15) Camara had a number of spirit searing quotes “When I fed the poor they called me a saint. When I asked why they were poor they called me a communist.” - Camara was (negatively) labeled “the red bishop” by the Brazilian government, serving as ArchBishop from 1964 to 1985, during the military dictatorship. The term “red bishop” was not a compliment … Diminutive (he was 5"2') lean and haggard. Hardly a threat. Camara also said, "Denunciation of injustice is an absolutely essential chapter in the proclamation of the Gospel. And not merely a duty for the few. It is a human duty for everyone, a Christian duty for all Christians, and an absolute duty for the shepherds. - I try to be a shepherd type like Camara - Camara did not wince at the largest discomfort. I wince at the slightest discomfort. It burns… the price of peace is my selfishness my “me first” attitude. I fall so short. Thankfully there is the Prince of Peace. (Rom 5:1) “Therfore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” #peacemaking #libertarian #hopegrowshere #mustardseedyyc #DomHelderCamara #justice #poverty #princeofpeace #jesus #marketplaceministry

Bhgavad Gita series chapter 3 Summary: There are many pseudo meditators who misrepresent themselves as belonging to high parentage, and great professional men who falsely pose that they have sacrificed everything for the sake of advancement in spiritual life. Lord Kṛṣṇa did not want Arjuna to become a pretender. Rather, the Lord desired that Arjuna perform his prescribed duties as set forth for kṣatriyas. Arjuna was a householder and a military general, and therefore it was better for him to remain as such and perform his religious duties as prescribed for the householder kṣatriya. Such activities gradually cleanse the heart of a mundane man and free him from material contamination. So-called renunciation for the purpose of maintenance is never approved by the Lord, nor by any religious scripture. After all, one has to maintain one’s body and soul together by some work. Work should not be given up capriciously, without purification of materialistic propensities.
