I always learn so much from Jack Wilson! My key takeaways from our thought-provoking breakfast & panel discussion...
- AI in research is in a "hype cycle"
- BUT we shouldn't jump in headfirst; we should look for the right use cases... lower risk "test & learn" opportunities first
- We can all benefit from healthy scepticism about the extent to which AI can replace current ways of working. We might get there in future but there is a way to go (and work to do!) before this becomes the norm
- AI optimisations will pave the way for faster, more engaging research processes for researchers and participants; something our industry definitely needs...
- ...but Debrah Harding rightly urged caution here. AI has the power to improve our industry reputation, but it could also quickly destroy it if researchers aren't using it properly.
- To use AI properly, we need to upskill. And this is pretty much why I love research... our skillset is never complete, we never stop learning. Every project brings a fresh opportunity to try something different, and maybe do it better!?
