Great World City (GWC) is strategically located, offering picturesque views of the Singapore River and lush surroundings. We aimed to create an inviting and refreshing environment that seamlessly integrates with the natural beauty outside. Incorporating biophilic elements into the office lobby design not only enhances aesthetics but also promotes well-being in this high-traffic workspace. The semi-outdoor structure allowed us to introduce plants and natural light into the space. Comfortable, open seating areas were also added to foster a welcoming atmosphere. This refurbishment project revitalises the building's facades, ensuring occupants feel connected, inspired, and refreshed. Ultimately, the bigger vision is to create a cohesive space that links GWC's shopping, public areas, and offices, enhancing the overall experience. For the Kustermannpark in Munich, CSMM-architecture matters has developed an innovative hybrid concept of gastronomy, foyer and co-working, and implemented it in a user-oriented manner on an area of around 80,000 square metres. The entrance foyer and the former canteen were redesigned into a gastronomic experience that now forms the heart of the building, combining co-working, gastronomy and workspaces in one place. The new catering area serves as a multifunctional meeting and conference room for various user groups. The relocation of the large canteen to the ground floor creates a 1,300 square metre open space on the upper floor with new leasing potential. An open gallery and wide wooden staircase in the foyer encourage communication, while a barista bar connects the catering area. The new catering concept offers 177 seats and a variety of space and dรฉcor scenarios. With this project, CSMM demonstrates how extensive building structures can be adapted to today's needs without the need for new construction. In Tejgaon Thana, Dhaka District, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh, architects sthapotik have created a space where the natural environment is at the forefront of its design. Dhaka is a mega city that experiences monsoons, so all structures in the city must be able to handle large volumes of rain and high wind. For this project, the owners wanted to have a space where they could embrace the rain and find a way to be able to enjoy it. Using the site as it is, the project was built within and around the existing trees on the site, this was to maximize the natural outdoor spaces, allowing for the movement of the trees in storms and the rain to fall from its leaves. The trees provide shade in the summer to cool the spaces and a barrier from strong gusts into the interior spaces. A large covered veranda provides an outdoor space to be shielded from the rain, while still being able to enjoy its splendor. The roof also acts as a rain collection and diversion system, to more efficiently shift water from the site, and reusing the water for the landscaping and for washing. The roof also acts to shield the interior spaces from solar heat gain, something important in a climate like Bangladeshโs, its angle diverts wind through the spaces to naturally cool it. The use of traditional brick jalis, allows for the movement of air through interior spaces as natural venthilation. This small project in such a huge city, shows that no project is too small to make a difference. By using the natural environment as a tool for the built environment, and working within its parameters, we can create truly incredible, unique, meaningful spaces. Weโre all in this together #sustainability #sustainablearchitecture #sustainabledesign #architecture #architecturaldesign #architecturaldesign #bangladesh #dhaka #greendesign #environmentaldesign
