Last week, OHL gathered with SUD providers from across the country in Washington, DC for the Treatment Communities of America (TCA) Spring Board Meeting. As part of meeting activities, provider members conducted Hill Visits with congressional staffers and members of Congress from each of their respective states. OHL Chief Executive Officer Ed Carlson, Chief Operations Officer Amy Bosworth, and Policy & Advocacy Manager Lonnie Granier participated in meetings with the offices of Representatives Steve Scalise, Troy Carter, Clay Higgins, and Speaker Mike Johnson, as well as Senators Bill Cassidy, MD and John Kennedy to advocate for certain legislation and increased funding for treatment services.
TCA also conducted a Congressional Briefing highlighting the importance of integrated care and the unique ability of residential treatment programs to treat the whole person. The briefing [pictured], held in partnership with the Congressional Addiction Treatment and Recovery (ATR) Caucus, was opened with remarks from caucus co-chair Rep. Paul Tonko of New York, and moderated by OHL CEO Ed Carlson.
