Inclusive hiring practices don’t just end with gender, ethnicity, and sexuality – they go beyond that. How can you hire someone outside of your usual hiring channels? Are your entry-level roles really entry-level? Are you giving a young person a chance that isn’t someone you already know?
This September, our global Talent and Talent RISE teams will be coming together for our annual Step Up Challenge, to raise money to go towards three brand-new life changing initiatives for young people with barriers to employment. These initiatives are:
👨💻 Tech Academy: The Tech Academy will fund a group of young people through work placements and training to acquire invaluable skills and experience, providing them with a clear pathway into tech roles – a pathway they never thought possible.
👩💼 Paid Internship Scheme: Paid internships can be life-changing but are often impossible to secure for the young people we work with. This scheme will fund internships which provide critical experience to help young people gain confidence and secure employment.
✔️ Equal Access Program: This program will support young people from refugee, asylum seeker, or Indigenous backgrounds by covering the cost of training (alongside RISE work readiness support) to provide a platform for future security.
Last year, in its inaugural year, our teams raised over AU$100,000 and helped change the lives of countless young people in the process. With all overhead costs covered for Talent RISE, it means all donations go straight to young people. Here’s what that money helped us do:
✊ We helped 720 young people with advice and guidance.
👍 Our teams spent 1,500 hours coaching and mentoring.
🤝 We supported 51 young people into training initiatives.
👏 We changed the lives of 75 individuals with meaningful employment.
