Hey, it’s been a minute! The reason we’ve been so quiet on here is because we’ve been busy integrating with LaBella Associates. Starting in November, ODELL will officially complete our transition to the LaBella brand. We are excited to continue to provide our architectural and interior design practices with the added capabilities of our new LaBella teammates. In the next few months, we will be sharing some of our new capabilities and services with you on our ODELL, a LaBella Company page before merging them with LaBella Associates.

dMFK’s phased revival of Hamilton House for Dorrington PLC as flex workspace stripped back layers of dowdy monogrammed carpets, false ceilings, wierd modern cornices, blocked light wells, and warren like fit out to reveal this wonderful William Emerson designed Grade 2 Listed former insurance headquarters facing the Thames and Temple Gardens. We were very pleased to agree to high performing replacement double glazed sash windows in many parts with the City of London Corporation when the default position on heritage is the use of secondary glazing which, in my view, is nasty and ruins the experience for the most important custodians of heritage - the occupants. If buildings are beautiful, comfortable, usable, and energy efficient, and get used, then the heritage value will surely be preserved. Some of these pics still show some parts awaiting removal of historic secondary glazing, and how the internal experience is compromised.
The refurbishment of Hamilton House has transformed the spectacular 60,000 sqft Grade II listed structure into a series of legible, bright workspaces that celebrate the building’s rich history. Situated on the Victoria Embankment, Hamilton House was originally constructed as an insurance headquarters in 1880. A series of later additions rendered the interiors dark, claustrophobic and disjointed prior to the purchase of the building by entrepreneurial developers Dorrington PLC. dMFK worked closely with Dorrington to realign the interiors with the evident quality of the exteriors; peeling back layers of previous fit-outs to uncover and restore its original character whilst introducing flexibility, comfort and enhanced energy efficiency. The revitalised Hamilton House is distinctive, beautiful and adaptable to the evolving needs of end users, evoking a strong sense of place whilst facilitating collaboration, calm and productivity. Fascinating fact for the day! Did you know President Lincoln was a trendsetter in more than just politics? During his tenure, he brought a fresh and homely touch to the White House, installing wall-to-wall carpeting! 🏛️🎩 This surely set the precedent for modern interior design, bringing comfort and coziness into spaces that were traditionally quite austere. Today, it's not just about practicality but also aesthetics and personal expression. Much like Lincoln, we should continue to embrace innovation and change, even in places where it's least expected. The fusion of old and new, tradition and innovation, can lead to some uniquely extraordinary results. 🔄 What are your thoughts on this merger of the political and personal in design decisions? Would you choose carpeting for a formal setting or stick to conventional hardwood flooring, and why? I'd love to hear your ideas 💭 #LincolnLegacy #WhiteHouseDesign #InteriorDesignTrends #InnovationInUnexpectedPlaces.

This design stands out for its sinuous, multi-level structure that fluidly wraps around itself, creating an almost hypnotic effect. The use of black, ribbon-like balconies and staircases contrast with the transparency of the glass and the rugged, natural texture of the rock foundation. It’s a striking dialogue between man-made and natural elements, showcasing a balance of strength and elegance. The circular forms give the impression of continuous movement, resembling the swirls of a gust of wind. It's a bold reimagining of architectural form, pushing the boundaries of design and function.
