🤩 "WOW" was the first thought that came to mind as we arrived this week at one of THE most important and largest gatherings for forestry and timber worldwide: the KWF-Tagung by Kuratorium für Waldarbeit und Forsttechnik e.V. (KWF). With over 500 exhibitors and 50,000 attendees, this event is a bustling hub for discussing current topics, challenges, and presenting solutions. 🪵 We've had dozens of insightful conversations over the past few days, demonstrating to forestry professionals how our software can digitalize and streamline their processes, tackling challenges like workforce shortages. 📱 We're also showcasing our data-driven climate protection projects, aimed at accelerating the transformation of forests into resilient mixed woodlands. In times of rapid climate change, this effort is crucial for protecting our most vital terrestrial carbon sink and increasing it, as well as enhancing biodiversity through these projects. 🌳🦉 👉🏼 If you're attending KWF-Tagung too, you can find us until Saturday, June 22nd, in Tent 2. 👉🏼 Curious about our climate protection projects? We want to ensure you'll be there for the 4th International Electronic Conference on Forests coming up virtually on 23-25 September 2024 ! 📩 Submit abstract today at https://lnkd.in/eRXQQanE by 27th May 2024 To amp up the excitement, we want to announce our session chair you'll hear from at the event: Chair: Prof. Dr. Rodolfo Picchio, Department of Agricultural and Forest Sciences, University of Tuscia, Italy Session: Climate Smart Forestry and Forest Innovations Session information: As also described by EFI and USDA, Climate-Smart Forestry (CSF) is a targeted approach or strategy to increase the climate benefits from forests and the forest sector, in a way that creates synergies with other needs related to forests. CSF could also be defined as an emerging branch of sustainable forest management that aims to manage forests in response to climate change. In summary, this approach builds on three main topics: • Reducing and/or removing greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate climate change; • Adapting forest management to build resilient forests; • Active forest management aiming to sustainably increase productivity and provide all benefits that forests can provide. All this translates into a continuous need to implement innovations on a process and technology scale, which necessarily must synergistically consider approaches and concepts specific to precision forestry and sustainable forest operations. Keywords: sustainable forest management; adaptation and mitigation; wildfire risk; reduced impact logging; forest harvesting Stay tuned for more updates and details. https://lnkd.in/gV2F5QYh #IECF2024 #Forests #OpenAccess #Freeofcharge

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL FOREST DAY 🌴 🌲 World Forestry Day, also referred to as the International Day of Forests, falls on March 21 annually. Its purpose is to advocate for the sustainable management, conservation, and advancement of all forest types, benefiting both present and future generations. Aligned with this year's theme, "Forests and Innovation: NEW SOLUTIONS FOR A BETTER WORLD," let's embrace technological progress to combat deforestation and safeguard our invaluable forests and their inhabitants. This approach fosters a harmonious and sustainable ecosystem. Efforts in ecosystem restoration, including reforestation initiatives, play a pivotal role in climate mitigation and bolstering food security. As GRECO, we proudly commemorate World Forestry Day and pledge to drive positive change. "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." 🌳 #WorldForestryDay #ForestsAndInnovation #ClimateAction Aarti Holla-Maini YOUNGO Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP)

Today, Desertification and Drought Day, we Join the United Nations movement #United4Land and embrace the slogan “Our Legacy. Our Future”. 🌱🌳 This year’s theme recognizes the crucial role that land plays in our lives – from supporting ecosystems and biodiversity to underpinning our economies and communities. And the slogan challenges us to reflect on the legacy we're creating through our actions today. Engaging people is more important than ever to halt and reverse land degradation and meet the global commitments to restore 1.5 billion hectares of degraded land by 2030. In the forests managed by Navigator, soil protection combines the best forestry practices with benchmark techniques such as edaphoclimatic zoning, a methodology carried out by RAIZ – Forest and Paper Research Institute (R&D laboratory co-owned by The Navigator Company, University of Aveiro, University of Coimbra and University of Lisbon, through the School of Agriculture), which allows stratifying and classifying the productive potential of a land, according to soil characteristics and climate conditions. This practice, among others, help increase organic matter levels in the soil, making it healthier and more resilient. A goal that is anchored in The Navigator Company’s purpose: “We are inspired and moved by people, their quality of life, and, above all, the future of our planet”. https://vist.ly/36qrb #TheNavigatorCompany #desertification #drought #soil #land #DesertificationAndDroughtDay #United4Land

As someone deeply passionate about forest bio-economy, innovations, and circular economy, today holds special significance as we celebrate World Forestry Day on March 21. This year's theme, "Forests and innovation: new solutions for a better world," resonates with my core interests in leveraging sustainable practices for a greener future.🌿 🌲 Reflecting on John Muir's words, "The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness," I am reminded of the profound connection between nature and innovation. Embracing this connection, I am inspired by recent discussions on the potential for technological advancements to transform the forest industry and track the existing innovations. 🤝 On this World Forestry Day, let's pledge to support forest conservation by championing innovative solutions, promoting sustainable practices and embracing technological advancements, we can pave the way for a more resilient and sustainable future. 💚 Together, let's make a difference and nurture our forests for generations to come. 🌍💚 🌳 #WorldForestryDay #ForestBioeconomy #CircularEconomy #Innovations
