Help! Do I rate my company 5 stars on Glassdoor because it'll help drive up the score and attract more talent (which is what I would love to see because it aligns with my belief in the company) or do I rate it the 4 stars I actually think we deserve as a company at this point in time? Okay okay, before anyone from Dealfront turns red from reading this, let me preface this by saying again that I 100% believe in the company's growth and direction, I think the people are amazingly smart and supportive, and I couldn't have asked for a better remote work environment where I have the optimal work-life balance/integration. With that said, if we're being honest with ourselves, we have a lot to still improve upon especially since our merger 2 years ago and rebrand last year. Anyone who has gone through an M&A knows what I'm talking about. It's challenging. Period.
So, should I rate 4 stars and provide the context around it in the written section and hope people will read it and make the most informed decision? Will this add credibility and gain more respect? Or, do I rate 5 stars to not drive down the score and give us the best chances of getting more talent through the door, especially since we are pretty transparent during our interview process about where our areas of improvement are/challenges are?
And lastly, let's consider if a 5-star rating is actually even credible if someone sees that I'm part of senior leadership and have been with the company for 8 years? I feel like my review would just get glazed over or get eye-rolled because people might think "of course she would give the company 5 stars".
There are so many angles to this and perspectives to be heard. Please share your thoughts below because I'm having a hard time clicking the submit button on my review. Am I overthinking this? 😄
(As a side note, I last left a review back in 2020 on Leadfeeder's Glassdoor company page before the merger/rebrand and I gave 5 stars without hesitation, but I wasn't part of senior leadership at that point and felt like people would respect my rating more).
