How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? One of the best things about working in the urban planning industry is being a part of the movement to improve public spaces and access to resources in our communities.
Congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks on this step forward for the expansion of their community ice rink and practice facility at Fifth Third Arena. The Near West Side experiences a disproportionate rate of crashes and road deaths. We were pleased to make a number of recommendations to help improve safety, including a raised crosswalk, curb extensions, and pedestrian countdown timers. A new bus bulb on Jackson Blvd., improved wayfinding, and a real-time arrival board inside the arena will enhance the experience for transit users in the area. #TrafficEngineering #safety #transportation #design #Chicago

One of my biggest considerations as a planning commissioner was always "how do we blend non-residential uses into our residential districts in a way that is net positive for both sides?". It's not always an easy question to answer and always requires thoughtful input from property owners, businesses, and planners. The John Ball Zoo is certainly an amazing asset for our city-and definitely needs improved/expanded parking options. Hopefully a compromise can be made all the way around that improves traffic flow for visitors and offers positive compromises for our residents. #planning #johnballzoo #grandrapids #community #communitydevelopment https://lnkd.in/gCMPJvS3
