Great to be apart of this (I am the afro on the left 😁) Very useful to me in my work at the Office of Sustainability on Thermal Energy Networks.
💪We had a full house at the NY Thermal Energy Network Summit! 👏Thank you to our keynote speaker Jessica Waldorf, our panelists, and attendees for joining us yesterday to discuss how we decarbonize NY’s neighborhoods by scaling up thermal energy networks. And thank you to our co-presenters, the New York State Pipe Trades Association and City & State, and our summit partners -- Alliance for a Green Economy, ALIGN: The Alliance for a Greater New York, New York Geothermal Energy Organization, New York League of Conservation Voters, New York State AFL-CIO, NYS Building & Construction Trades Council, Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter, UpgradeNY, and WE ACT for Environmental Justice -- for helping us organize a great summit. 📝Couldn't make it? It was great to listen in on this insightful roundtable discussion earlier this week! Read more below ⬇
In light of this morning’s election results, what new regulations could be put in place as a step towards clean energy in the UK? And how might this be implemented on a practical level? This topic, and more, was discussed at Buro Happold’s London office earlier this week as part of an Insider Media event – ‘Mapping the route to clean energy’. Alasdair Young, Partner and Global Energy Transition Leader, Buro Happold, was part of the roundtable of industry experts. Discussing the route to clean energy, many topics were covered. The group agreed that, in order to meet net zero nationally, decarbonising the grid was of the upmost importance to improve investor confidence, and enable investors to see grid connections for whole developments. The need for reforming the perception on renewable energy was also discussed – both from corporate consumers on the grid capacity and price, as well as the general public. The group delved into technologies that are key for unlocking sustainable innovation, including improving energy efficiency in buildings, as well as policy regulation and creating certainty around planning licensing and forward investment. Alasdair, in a Business Briefing video with South East Business Insider Editor Saptarshi Ray, summarised the three key takeaways from the session, which included upgrading the grid for future needs, unblocking planning, and as Alasdair said, “building support for consumers, how they can get involved and how they can benefit from the energy transition, and that will get the UK economy motoring as well.” Watch the video below for more details. #cleanenergy #UK #energyreform #election #windpower #solarpower #sustainabletechnologies #innovation #development #investment #engineering #BuroHappold #energyreform #grid #forwardinvestment #renewableenergy #energy
