During our Summer of Shovels were highlighting how clean energy projects come to life across New York! Recently, NYSERDA President and CEO Doreen Harris visited East Point Energy Center, a 50-megawatt solar project located in the Town of Sharon in Schoharie County. Owned by NextEra, the project facilities will include commercial-scale solar arrays, access roads, electric collection lines, and electrical interconnection facilities. NextEra Energy Resources is one of the largest generators of renewable energy from wind and solar projects. #SummerofShovels

Gaskell West 2-3 is different from your average solar farm—it's a game-changer. Rosendin Electric served as the project’s subcontractor and employed 425 construction workers from local unions during peak construction. Gaskell West 2-3 includes 140 MW of solar energy plus 80 MWh energy storage systems. That's enough energy to power about 18,000 homes! This project is located in Kern County, California, and includes a solar farm and battery storage capabilities. The construction of the solar-plus-storage facilities was a testament to efficiency, taking just nine months to complete. The project achieved commercial operations on May 5, 2023, marking a significant milestone in the renewable energy sector. #RenewableEnergy #SolarPowerProjects #SolarPower #BatteryStorage

"Strata Clean Energy, a developer and service provider for utility-scale solar and storage systems, has closed on $559 million in financing for the construction and ownership of the 255MW/1,020MWh Scatter Wash battery storage complex. The facility broke ground January 18 and is expected to be operational by April, 2025. It will provide Arizona Public Service (APS) customers with energy, support increased power demand, and will also store energy from solar power plants on its grid to use when it is needed, particularly in the summertime when extreme heat and electricity demand is high in Arizona." - Renewable Energy World #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #energystorage #greenenergy

Description: "Excited to share my latest work project - a solar energy system with a 5kW panel, consisting of 9 solar panels each generating 545W. We've installed 3 sturdy structures (L3), implemented 2 DC earthing systems for safety, and paired it with a powerful 10kW inverter. Going green with renewable energy! ☀️🌱 #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy #GreenEnergy #SustainableLiving #CleanEnergy #SolarInstallation"

“I’m still waiting for someone to implement this concept in a canola field in Alberta. The idea is to elevate the panels high enough to allow a combine and a grain truck down the rows, going four panels wide with skipping every second row. Connecting to the farmyard, incorporating outbuildings for cows, and potentially adding a windmill for a comprehensive energy solution. If the field is sizable, combining both solar and wind technologies could optimize efficiency, providing better value and potentially reducing the production curve difference between June and December. The graph below illustrates a residential production curve, showcasing the contrast between solar output in June and December. Introducing wind power might help flatten that curve. Just my thought.”
Invenergy-developed Badger Hollow Solar Park, the largest solar project in Wisconsin, has officially begun full commercial operations for We Energies and Madison Gas and Electric. The 300-MW solar project will generate enough electricity to power 90,000 homes with homegrown renewable energy. Read more: https://bit.ly/3H9Tu4O

Under a study conducted by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), Texas has been reported as the number 1 state with the most solar installed in 2023. Within 2023 Texas installed approximately 6.5 gigawatts (GW) of solar. Further increasing the total solar capacity installed in the state to 22.9 GW. Proceeding Texas, additional states with the most amount of solar installed in 2023 include California reporting 6.2 GW of solar; Florida with 3.2 GW; Colorado with 1.6 GW; and Ohio with 1.3 GW. Via the study, SEIA additionally predicts that Texas will lead the country in the most solar power installed with a projected total of 100 GW of solar energy. The following projection is evident as Texas is currently in the process of developing larger solar power projects, such as the 408-megawatt Ash Creek Solar farm in Hill County. #solarenergy #SolarPowerPlants #solar #cleanenergy #SEIA #SolarCapacity #electricpower #texas #MAPSearch #ENvision

The U.S. clean power sector marked a new record in 2023 with nearly 34 gigawatts of new wind, utility scale solar, and energy storage installed, according to American Clean Power Association (ACP)’s 2023 Clean Power Annual Market Report. Renewable energy now accounts for ~25% of U.S. electricity generation. Clean energy projects or manufacturing facilities span 93% of congressional districts and all 50 states. This has translated into 443,000 jobs, with more on the way. Thanks to the ACP team for another insightful report highlighting the exciting momentum of our industry. Six Flags Magic Mountain, in partnership with Solar Optimum and DSD Renewables, has officially broken ground on a new 12.37 MW solar carport and energy storage system to offset 100% of its energy usage with solar power. The project marks the third solar installation for Six Flags, and, according to the company, it will be the largest single-site commercial renewable energy project in California. The 637,000 sq ft solar carport will be built over the main guest and team member parking lots, covering more than 4,300 parking spaces. In total, the carport is projected to produce 20.8 million kWh of energy annually, equivalent to powering more than 2,800 homes. To support its solar energy efforts, Six Flags Magic Mountain will install a battery storage system capable of producing nearly 2 MW of power with up to 8 MWh of capacity that can be deployed daily. The company will also deploy approximately 30 electric vehicle charging spaces in the guest parking lot.
