Agrivoltaics can help avoid solar backlash? This is a great article that captures some of the stress fractures that are starting to show with the growth large scale solar on rich farmland. Many counties (often prodded by oil & gas lobbyists) are banning solar because it often degrades future farming use potential. #Agrivoltaics -- co-locating grazing or farming in between rows of solar panels -- adds some cost to the solar, but helps preserve the long term farmability of soil, and can help retain ag community support, and family farms. We need a lot more solar, and the falling cost of PV combined with the escalating demand from EVs and the data center boom is going to drive this still faster. We need to get in front of the growing backlash, and more exploration and research of Agrivoltaics is needed. #UCMerced and other universities are starting to get involved here, lets make sure they get the right industrial and policy support, in time. https://lnkd.in/gyNeXR6d

This article demonstrates that a successful agrivoltaic project must be a true partnership between the farmer and the solar developer.
