A ship with 10,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs worth $500 million could become the first ever sovereign territory that relies entirely on artificial intelligence for its future | TechRadar: US firm Del Complex has created a floating data center called BlueSea Frontier Compute Cluster (BSFCC) that contains 10,000 Nvidia GPUs. Del Complex claims that the data center could potentially operate in international waters, making it exempt from international AI regulations. The company envisions the creation of sovereign AI states dedicated to AI development, allowing organizations to avoid regulatory scrutiny. The long-term plan includes a fleet of floating data centers to circumvent both regulations and tax obligations. I really like what Supermicro is doing. I’m a big fan of the following design features: 1) Centralized Coolant Distribution System. 2) Replaceable GPU modules 3) In-house designed cold plates. I wonder if they have a Haas or Tormach CNC on campus. I’d really love to see one of these in the wild. The amazing thing is that they are even in the Server Market without the benefit of volume consumer products to help drive down CPU and other component costs. I suspect they are doing more vertical integration to manage their costs. #supermicro
