Marketing officer and Lead Event Producer of Tradefair, Festivals, and Carnivals for Black communities, I specialize in developing and executing events that integrate Black diversity into the British community.
In 2025, I plan to enhance our new collaboration with the Sheffield black business community Ruth McDonald @businesssheffield to create greater visibility and a stronger identity for black-owned businesses in the area. Our goal is to not only elevate black vendors but also to welcome businesses that engage with and support the black community. By fostering these connections, we can build a more inclusive network that amplifies our collective impact. One of the key initiatives will be to organize events that showcase the talents and offerings of black-owned businesses while also highlighting those who actively contribute to the empowerment of the black community. We aim to create a vibrant marketplace where diverse business ventures can come together, share resources, and promote their services. Additionally, we will develop marketing campaigns that celebrate black entrepreneurship and encourage the local community to support these businesses. This can include social media promotions, community spotlights, and partnerships with local influencers who align with our mission. Our mantra, "STANDING TALL," will serve as a reminder to every black business that we are proud of our heritage and accomplishments. It symbolizes resilience, unity, and the determination to thrive despite challenges. By standing tall together, we can cultivate a strong sense of identity and pride within the Sheffield black business community. We will also explore mentorship programs and workshops to empower aspiring entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed. By investing in the next generation, we ensure that the legacy of black entrepreneurship continues to grow and flourish. This is clip from our first Sheffield black businesses award in April 28th 2023 #yagiaward #sheffieldblackbusiness #cruxnxtionevents

TIME magazine defines a Closer as a Black leader dedicated to closing the racial wealth gap. Dr. Kelly Burton, PhD , CEO of BIA, embodies that definition. At last week's TIME Closers Impact Dinner, Kelly took to the stage and emphasized the importance of the Closers list, highlighted BIA's achievements, and outlined the ongoing work ahead. “What an honor. I am so, so, so proud. We are so proud at Black Innovation Alliance to serve as a Knowledge Partner for the Closer’s list. It's been an honor to walk alongside the TIME team from the inception of this concept and to see it come to fruition in this room. Founded in 2020, Black Innovation Alliance is a national coalition of organizations dedicated to closing the racial wealth gap through entrepreneurship and ownership. We were formed by a small group of ecosystem leaders, and today, BIA is 175 organizations strong. Yes. And they support over a half million entrepreneurs and innovators of color. In just three years, we've covered a lot of ground. We partnered with Congress to launch the Congressional Caucus on Black Innovation. We've partnered with UBS, the eBay Foundation, and others, some of whom are in this room, to launch the Decade of Black Innovation, launched a partnership with the Bahamas to drive entrepreneurship and innovation in climate tech. We've collaborated with the White House to connect communities of color to opportunities coming out of the federal government, and we've conducted the first ever study on digital entrepreneurship.” - Kelly Burton, PhD Video credit: TIME #BlackInnovationAlliance

As the Executive Director of the Black Business Ventures Association, Dipo Alli knows what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and professional. Here's what Dipo had to say when asked what advice he has for Black youth on the path to professional success. *** "First, embrace your unique perspective and experiences. The tech industry thrives on innovation, and your background can offer invaluable insights. Don't hesitate to incorporate your heritage and personal story into your work. Second, actively seek out mentors and build a network. Success is rarely achieved alone. Find individuals who have already walked the path you're on, learn from them, and lean on them when faced with challenges. Remember, your growth often stems from the community you cultivate. Lastly, be resilient. The path to success is riddled with setbacks and failures. Instead of viewing these as reasons to give up, see them as opportunities to learn and grow. Each challenge serves as a stepping stone towards your ultimate goal. Keep in mind that your journey inspires the next generation of Black professionals."
