In recent news, Mondi Group has released the FlexiBag Reinforced—a “mono–polyethylene-based” recyclable package with improved performance, including puncture resistance, sealability, and the ability for customers to customize the amount of post consumer recycled (PCR) content used. The FlexiBag is reported as “ideal” for pet food and related products by ▼Pet Food Processing, as the “barrier protection” can be customized to provide barriers for fat, oxygen, moisture, and more. Dirk Gabriel, CEO of Consumer Flexibles at Mondi, was quoted in Pet Food Processing stating: “By working closely with our partners along the value chain, we can understand the unique requirements of each customer and adapt accordingly to material efficiency and recyclability. With FlexiBag Reinforced, we are able to offer a solution that comes close to material costs of conventional multi-material laminates for certain structures and at the same time offers recyclable packaging that gives our customers a competitive advantage in the market.” Read more on Mondi’s FlexiBag Reinforced and its application in the pet food industry here: https://lnkd.in/eBtfjn7D #petfood #packaging #packagingdesign #sustainablepackaging

Did you know that the average lifespan of a food tray can be as short as 8 days – from the day it is produced to the day it is disposed of by the consumer? This represents significant waste of valuable resources. As a leading supplier of rigid food packaging, Faerch is committed to changing this. Elisabet V. Sandnes , the newly appointed Chief Sustainability Officer at Faerch explains: “Though our business is quite complex, our goal is simple: Shift from using rigid food packaging once, to an infinite number of cycles where packaging from household waste is recycled back into new food packaging. We want the packaging to maintain the same quality, ensuring like-for-like usage without compromising on food safety. This is circular recycling.” At our integrated recycling facility in the Netherlands this is reality already today. “And with the upcoming Grand Opening of our fully scaled recycling plant in mid-April we will showcase our full-scale facility and demonstrate how we are reshaping the industry by ensuring that a rigid PET food packaging can become a new food packaging with circular content again and again, so stay tuned” Elisabet concludes. #wasteavoidance #rigidfoodpackaging #circularrecycling #faerch #circularcontent #circulareconomy
