The Print Media-Newapapers and Magazines are facing their hardest moments with rising social media. Contrary to claims that newspapers will soon go out of circulation, it would only struggle to survive, and the way to survive is to fuse with other mediums. In an insightful interview with Ulbe Jelluma, the Director of Print Power, he highlights the growing consumer dissatisfaction with the inaccuracies prevalent on social media channels. This year's Pew Research study reinforces his observations, revealing that 40% of US visitors to social media dislike the inaccuracy of these platforms, marking a 9% increase since 2018. Moreover, 45% of users prefer traditional news outlets for in-depth information about issues and events.Jelluma believes this trend presents significant opportunities for publishers with well-trusted news brands, as consumers increasingly seek reliable information in an era marked by uncertainty. As the demand for quality journalism rises, the role of print media in providing trustworthy content becomes more crucial than ever. #PrintMedia #QualityJournalism #ConsumerTrust Pew Research Center #publishing https://lnkd.in/gZGez2GR

Newsrooms, are you looking to shift from print to digital revenue models? In partnership with the Lenfest Institute for Journalism, we held a convening with 20 organizations in Detroit. Here are some of the best practices they shared: ✅ 1-on-1 customer service can go a long way For example, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution loaned iPads to subscribers for the duration of their subscription. The staff also went into the community to teach them how to use the device and show the AJC website features. ✅ New brands and products can help engage existing and new audiences For example, Alabama Media Group began building up its “portfolio of brands” years ago. With constant experimentation and audience feedback, it found new revenue streams to make up for the loss of print revenue. ✅ Mail delivery can help with carrier challenges For example, The Seattle Times and The Philadelphia Inquirer still have higher rates of print readership. Because mail delivery is cheaper and more reliable in rural areas, it can help prolong the viability of their print products. ✅ Transparency and regular communication is critical Alabama Media Group's Kelly Ann Scott said that transparency among newsroom leadership and providing talking points for conversations with readers can make the transition smoother. Is print media really becoming a relic of the past? We've revisited and updated our article from July 2022, initially inspired by insights from AMS Media Group, to bring you the latest. Check out our fresh take, now including some recent print media circulation data. Our piece doesn't just throw numbers at you; it offers our thoughts of media trends. We examine the enduring scepticism about circulation and readership figures, providing a balanced perspective on how print and digital media compare. 📈 Citing recent articles like the Press Gazette's coverage of December's ABC figures, we look at the nuanced realities of media consumption. Despite the rise of digital media, print hasn't vanished. It's an interesting landscape, where newspapers and magazines still find their audience, shaped by age, habit, and preference. 💡 The article isn't just about statistics – it's to look at how different generations interact with media. Why do some prefer the tactile feel of a newspaper, while others gravitate towards digital platforms? We explore this gradient of change, looking at the impact on various print titles over the past decade. 🌐 On the digital front, we echo Simon English of the Evening Standard, highlighting the persistent significance and evolving role of online media.
