SUSTAINABILITY & RESILIENCE. Last week, the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) Board of Directors endorsed a "Sustainability and Resilience Framework" document, which is a step forward toward a green and robust future for tolling operations, organizations, and infrastructure. IBTTA acknowledges transportation’s greenhouse gas emissions and the toll industry’s role to address the effects on the environment. The "Sustainability and Resilience Framework" establishes how IBTTA will make a difference, the actions we will take, and the partnerships we will seek to get the job done. Our next steps are designed to help members understand and adopt sustainable investments, operating practices, and business processes aligned with two primary objectives of (1) decarbonization and (2) resilience. Each objective will explore a unique focus on data and measurements, partnerships, and social impact to drive our efforts forward.  Learn more about the IBTTA Board action in the press release (https://lnkd.in/euZNFf_7) and access the "Sustainability and Resilience Framework" summary (https://lnkd.in/ey-n_zTK) for more detail.  #IBTTA #transportation #sustainability #resilience #climatechange #tolling

QEM is proud to partner with Carbonhalo for its third-party verified GHG emissions inventory assessments as one of the tools to track progress towards a low-carbon footprint and achieving our #sustainability objectives. To further our commitment, QEM has also offset its unavoidable emissions through verified carbon credits from projects focused on #renewableenergy, technology-based emissions reduction, habitat regeneration, and waste capture. These offsets are sourced from Australian ACCUs and International VERRA/UNFCC projects. QEM has also committed to reassess our emissions annually, with the next evaluation for the end of FY 2024 currently underway through Carbonhalo. #esg

📢 Exciting News: EFCA Releases New Position Paper on EU Blue Deal 🌊 We are thrilled to announce the #publication of our latest position paper on the EU Blue Deal! Key Highlights: 1️⃣ Coordinated Water Policy: EFCA advocates for an EU-wide approach to #water policy and endorses the establishment of a Blue Transition Fund. Aligning with the European Economic and Social Committee, we emphasise the integral role of water in the EU's industrial strategy. 2️⃣ Holistic Environmental Approach: EFCA proposes that an EU Blue Deal should be integrated into broader environmental and #climate policies. We recommend the European Commissioner for Environment to lead, with a Vice-President coordinating relevant Commissioners. 3️⃣ Climate Adaptation Measures: Our position paper underscores the importance of addressing climate adaptation in Europe's water #infrastructure. This includes coastal areas, rivers, water basins, and floodplains, with a focus on cross-border #collaboration. 4️⃣ Infrastructure Maintenance: EFCA emphasises the urgent need for maintenance and repair of aging water supply and #wastewater infrastructure. These issues, prevalent across Member States, contribute to water shortages, increased costs, flooding, and drainage challenges. 5️⃣ Water-based Renewable Energy: EFCA calls for the acceleration of water-based #renewableenergy sources, ensuring both feasibility and public acceptance. This aligns with our commitment to sustainable solutions that benefit citizens. 6️⃣ Circular Water Economy: We support the EESC emphasis on a circular water economy. EFCA recognises the importance of circular practices for a sustainable and resilient water system. 7️⃣ Political Commitment: EFCA urges the new political term (2024-2029) to include a firm commitment to the EU Blue Deal.
