Karl Reed, I am running for the VIC ACS BEC as Secretary and Committee Member, please vote Karl Reed 1 Statement by Karl Reed, MSC, FACS, HLM, FIEAUST- Yes, I am and Old Fogey, but I brinigng to the table experience of ACS in another era, when it was easy for volunteers to make things happen. I intend to continue promoting ACS and ensuring that the vast resources of the ACS support members and volunteers. ACS must be more relevant to young professionals. If elected as Secretary, I will work to improve communications with members, and, transparency of reporting. ACS needs to improve its connection with its members generally. There is a lot going on, and, we very poor at telling people. Creating an ACS culture encouraging people to volunteer. 2. Support the reactivation of SIGs. 3. Support the Chair in the process of empowering the BEC. 5. Improve the transparency and governance within the ACS, and reporting to members. 6. Ensure that the Constitutional Reform process is properly supported. 7. Leverage Volunteer Leaders and Staff relationship to ensure VIC Branch grows in influence, in delivering a member experience that is enjoyable and rewarding. 8. Ensuring we are heard publicly in the issues if the day. 9. Ensuring the resources of the ACS support members, volunteers. 10. Helping ICT people looking for work to find positions

REDUCING SUICIDE IS POSSIBLE We are all working hard in this sector to reduce Suicide. To shift the dial, we need reforms, like the ones done to reduce our nations road tolls. Fatalities on Australian roads have dropped from high 2000’s to low 1000’s since the 1970’s. Significant measures introduced, namely:- 1. The Introduction of seat belts 2. Drink driving laws 3. Speed limit reform 4. Improved, safer roads 5. Airbags & better car safety Each change brought a reduction. We in the ‘Lived Experience’ sector know where the gaps in our system are, interview the top 100 Suicide survivors & you’ll get the answers.
Read our 2022-23 highlights in our Annual Report. We’ve raised the bar on evidence-based practice. Did you know that we published 5 reports and 3 policy position statements, made 21 submissions, and attended 5 roundtables. Read all our achievements here: https://ow.ly/3yjo50Q4oJt

Why would a professional speaker go here to learn? Let me share 4 reasons: 1. Learning in an intimate setting what's on the minds and hearts of the people I wish to and continue to serve - #associations - is better than gold. It's first time real-time conversations - nothing can replace them. 2. AI will never replace true human connection. Ever. Show up in spaces and places to SHOW people you intend to not just keep showing up - that they can TRUST you. Trust = bedrock of connection. Channeling my inner David Horsager!!! 3. When you keep showing up, selectively where the people you wish to serve keep showing up, you *suddenly* find that serving and earning new client partner business is easier. It's easier because the trust you earn accelerates the level of confidence that you'll show up for the client partner as well. 4. It's FUN!! This event along with #NonDuesaPalooza are two of my Must-Attend, Get-To attend events each year because of the world-class production each event is, thanks to world-class teams. Perhaps more importantly, they're also get-to-go rocks in my schedule because the founders and the teams the founders have built are aaaaaaaallll-in - they host events that have thier own unique personality, are better, tastier, more tailored to who they're serving. And bonus # 5: They welcome professionals like me. Those who have intentionally chosen to be with, around, learn from and with, and ultimately serve will create mutually fruitful and fun relationships. Okay - bonus # 6: The camaraderie of the 5's above is magic. Being a pro speaker can feel lonely. The cadre of colleagues within these events provides restorative connection for me. (I'll mention a few below....) If you're an association exec seeking business development guidance, register today. Period. #associations #businessdevelopment #community #poweredbyconnection #RevUP23

It is high time for strategic thinking about #publicservicereform. The extraordinary challenges of recent years have exposed the flaws in our highly centralised system, but we have also seen incredible innovation, especially at a local level. That's why I'm so excited that Bridges Outcomes Partnerships is co-funding Demos' Future Public Services Taskforce which will be exploring the emerging #publicservices paradigm and how government can deliver a more preventative and effective state.
Very, very excited for this! Today Demos launches the Future Public Services Taskforce. Our mission? To write a new public service reform strategy for central government. Absolutely delighted to be supported by an exceptional Advisory Board: Patricia Hewitt, Simone Finn, Chris Naylor, Jonathan Slater, Lord Victor Adebowale CBE, Amanda Kelly CPFA, Aman Johal, Joanne Pitt & Mila Lukic And a fab group of Policy Advisors: Simon Parker, Alex Fox OBE, Noel Hatch, Catherine Needham, Anna Randle, Caroline Slocock & Patrick Diamond. Thanks so much to the Taskforce funders: Big Society Capital Bridges Outcomes Partnerships CIPFA PA Consulting.
