Exciting day at home office! We partner with The Bear Factory as our preferred Stuff a Plush machine and product vendor. Today, their team came out to demonstrate their "Plush for the Planet" line–the first sustainable plush line made of recycled fabrics.
We have had the opportunity to implement The Bear Factory operations at more than ten of our camp-resorts! We're proud to work with a company that prioritizes environmental conservation and cultivates lasting family memories.

ATTENTION SUSTAINABILITY PROFESSIONALS / VENUE OPERATORS:
Here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, we're focused on building upon our successful waste diversion programs by continuing to expand our recycling efforts in targeted areas across the campus. However, we've run into a slight problem that I'm hoping someone within my network can help with:
Our current vendor has discontinued production of the green 55 gallon lids we need to help manage contamination in our recycling bins (unless we meet their MOQ which is far more than we will ever need at IMS). We have budget allocated toward this project but cannot find green lids that fit the 55 gallon receptacles.
If anyone has connections, resources, or ideas for where we could source these lids, please reach out to me in the comments or via messaging! We are also open to exploring a split of a MOQ, if any other venues are interested.
While I know there are some great recycling solutions out there, we are only interested in having conversations about procuring lids for our existing infrastructure at this time.
Thanks in advance!

Thank you to The Wall Street Journal for recognition of Aurora Sustainable Lands great work in conserving these essential natural assets.
"A group of investors that made one of the biggest timberland purchases in years with plans to reduce logging and make carbon deals said it sold more than $100 million of so-called forest offsets during the gambit’s first year.
Aurora Sustainable Lands, created to carry out the biggest wager yet on forest-carbon markets, said it expects the roughly 1.7 million acres of eastern U.S. forest that it bought for about $1.8 billion last year to annually yield additional offsets that are worth between $60 million and $150 million at today’s prices (and more if offset prices rise, as they have over the past year)."

You might think that putting the bins out for collection is a boring, every day task, but you’d be wrong.
Do you realise you’re showing a #Linkedin skillset every time you do it…
Logistics – You know which colour bin collection is coming up and you know exactly which waste goes into each colour bin (blue – recycling, black – rubbish, green bin – garden waste, green box – glass).
Punctuality and Planning Ahead – You’ve consulted your bin calendar and you’re getting that bin out and kerbside in a timely manner EVERY week (by 7am on the day of delivery).
Leadership – That bin belongs to YOU! You know it’s capacity, understand it’s limits and know how far to push it in order to reach peak performance.
Managing expectations – At certain times of the year, demand on your bins is higher than usual. You know that you can take a visit to your local HWRC if you’ve got too much waste for your bins to handle.
Being part of a team – You’re not the only one getting their bin collected tomorrow. A knowing nod to your neighbour as you roll the bin kerbside shows that you’re all in this together.
Strategic Thinking – It’s November. Green bin collections are due to stop for the winter but yours is only half full. You decide to leave it out for collection anyway, so you’re ready to fill a completely empty bin come Spring.
Dealing with setbacks – on the incredibly rare occasion that there’s an issue with your collection, you know to go straight to doncaster.gov.uk to report any issues.
So remember, the next time you put your bins out, you’re showing much more than you realise.

#ICYMI: A San Francisco tradition returned this month: holiday tree recycling. 🎄
The longstanding program turns the holiday pines, spruces and firs into environmentally-friendly mulch and keeps them out of the landfill.
Recycling your Christmas tree is easy. Simply place your unadorned tree curbside, next to your blue recycling bin, the night before your regular collection day between Jan. 2 and Jan. 12. Recology will take it away.
Each year around this time, due to the efforts of San Francisco residents, the City recycles 500 tons of trees on average.
“We never want to see old Christmas trees left out on the sidewalk willy-nilly for extended periods of time where they can become hazards,” said San Francisco Public Works Director Carla Short. “San Francisco’s tree-cycling initiative helps keep our neighborhoods clean and safe by allowing residents to dispose of their old trees properly and put them to good use as mulch that can be used for gardens and farms.”
Before putting your tree out for pickup, please remember to remove all tinsel, decorations, nails, plastic bags, stands and lights – anything that was added to the natural tree. If your tree measures more than 6 feet tall, please cut it in half. Trees should not be put into a plastic bag.
Additional information is available online at www.Recology.com. Residents and businesses can contact Recology at [email protected] or call (415) 330-1300.
