Happy International Women's Day! ☀ Today is a day to both celebrate the amazing women in solar and tech and to reflect over the work that is yet to be done. The solar PV industry employs more women than any other renewables, reaching 40% in 2021, according to International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). However, this is still behind the economy-wide average of 46% and women are across the board paid less for the same work compared to men. On the tech side, we see that even in the Nordics, with generally high gender balance, management of companies is heavily male-dominated and only 1% of VC funding went to all female founder teams. Here's to a brighter, more equal future! 🙌

Finding role models as a woman in a technical profession is not easy. Our board member Dr.-Ing. Petra Mayer knows all about it. It is therefore more important to be able to orientate yourself. Because role models and networks play an important role, women at DEUTZ can openly exchange ideas with Dr. Petra Mayer over lunch at a "Meet & Eat" get-together. This is a great opportunity to share ideas and experiences, support each other and learn from each other - regardless of department, specialty or career level. In addition to sharing ideas within the company, DEUTZ has also been participating in the Cross Mentoring Program to promote women in specialist and management positions for ten years. The next round starts today. The mentees are matched with mentors from different companies and will be accompanied for a year. Since 2019, the proportion of female managers at DEUTZ has risen from 12 to 18 percent. This is a step in the right direction - but it also shows that we come from a male-dominated industry. Women's Day should remind us that careers have no boundaries. Our respect to all women on International Women's Day!

Yesterday's Dagens Industri (DI) had a section where they praised and acknowledged the list of "Sweden's most Powerful Women", and I congratulate Helena Hedblom, CEO of Epiroc, who is at the top of the list and all the other women on this year’s list! 25 years ago, Veckans Affärer (VA) published the list of "the 100 most Powerful Women in Sweden" for the first time, and I was honoured to be number one of the list that year! It was also very nice to see all the other winners from then until now, recognized in yesterday's DI! I am glad to say that I have seen a significant shift, in the past 25 years, in how an inclusive working environment is more appreciated and applied as part of the company cultures where I have worked. However, there is still a lot to do in the wider society and in many companies, and one example is the number of female CEOs at listed companies in Sweden, which has not increased this year. On the contrary the number has decreased. I have found that by having ambitious goals and high standards for all kinds of diversity, you are not only making a work environment where people and teams can thrive and achieve success. You are also drawing the best talents from outside, by providing a workplace where people can feel they belong to a company where diversity is important and you will have the same fair chance regardless of gender, age, nationality, or background in any way. And you are able to provide a work environment where people can be comfortable, grow & be fully themselves!

🌟 Did you know that women are leading the way in the clean energy revolution? In 2018, the Women in Clean Energy (WICE) initiative was developed in efforts to foster a community of support, solidarity, and camaraderie for self-identifying North Carolinian professional women in the clean energy industry. Within the first year, more than 600 women participated in several networking events held across the state. Women in clean energy are breaking barriers and making significant contributions to the industry. Their innovative ideas and unique perspectives are driving positive change in the fight against climate change. There is a growing recognition of the importance of diversity in leadership roles within the clean energy sector. Empowering women in clean energy not only benefits the industry but also the planet as a whole. On March 8th was International Women's Day - a public holiday in Berlin! Each year during the week of International Women's Day, Vattenfall offers inspiring events and insights into the daily life of women within the company. To me, this is an integral part of our company culture. Women make important contributions in business and in society at large. We at Vattenfall are determined to lift women up. In Vattenfall, we are not only one of the drivers of the energy transition, we are also an example of how female leadership is possible in executive management. End of last year, our CEO, Anna Borg, was included in the TIME Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential actors against climate change. In our highest level of management, we have 6 women and 5 men, leading the way. We have officially committed ourselves to achieving equal leadership, opportunities and pay by 2030 because we signed Equal by 30.
