🍀 Did you know this? Bio-LNG production from biogas is also a very effective and practical way to capture biogenic carbon! 🍀 Carbon capture technologies have become pivotal in achieving both European and global climate objectives. Direct Air Capture (DAC) is a relatively recent innovation that has attracted much attention due to its potential to significantly reduce atmospheric CO2 levels. A less well-known but equally important method involves capturing CO2 during #biogas upgrading to #bioLNG and gaseous #biomethane. In a recently published article, Alexa Grimm from Nordsol focuses on the comparative analysis and synergistic potential of air-based and biogenic CO2 capture techniques, highlighting their central roles in advancing carbon management practices. https://lnkd.in/egxNyUsM Nordsol has developed a process that smoothly integrates CO2 capture into bio-LNG production, and our technology highlights the economic and environmental synergies achieved through this process. By intelligently combining CO2 liquefaction and bio-LNG production, we can streamline the process, minimize losses, and improve overall efficiency. This approach embodies the principles of a #circulareconomy that optimizes the use of resources while minimizing environmental impact. #directaircapture #carboncapture #ccu

What are the Puro Standard methodologies? Currently, Puro has five innovative and scalable methods of carbon removal available through various suppliers: ✔️ Biochar: produced from biomass through pyrolysis (heated in the absence of oxygen), Biochar is a stable form of carbon that can endure in soil for hundreds of years, making it an ideal technology for scalable carbon removal. ✔️ Geologically Removed Carbon: the process of capturing and storing CO2 in underground geologic formations. ✔️ Carbonated Materials: Manufactured carbonated materials that remove more CO2 than the production emits. This process offers the potential for the utilization of industrial byproducts and waste materials such as steel slag, mine tailings and alkaline wastes, reducing their environmental impact while creating value through carbon removal. ✔️ Enhanced Rock Weathering: Using technology to fast-track the natural process of carbon removal when silicate rocks weather, capturing carbon from the atmosphere permanently. ✔️ Terrestrial Storage of Biomass: Buried or covered biomass can be preserved over time for thousands of years. This engineered method offers a large scale, affordable and fully additional carbon removal solution. Read more about the methodologies: https://hubs.ly/Q02dmZJL0 #CDR #ClimateAction #NetZero

A picture of granular Anaerobic Biomass, the key players behind Anaerobic Digestion technology - these little guys can remove more than 90% of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) from your wastewater. In the process they also produce biogas - a renewable energy source which can be utilized for steam/energy generation. Visual inspection plays a crucial role in monitoring and optimizing wastewater and water treatment processes, and with Anaerobic Digestion, this is no different. Some key aspects of Anaerobic Biomass to look out for are: Granularity, colour, settleability and biogas production. Ensure you are making your contribution towards sustainable treatment this #worldwaterweek. Activating the Transition to Sustainable Water.

Did you know that #biomethane is technically purified biogas? 🔄 Biogas becomes biomethane after the technical removal of carbon dioxide. Biomethane is a renewable fuel in gaseous state (methane CH4 content >97%) that meets the quality requirements of natural gas and is produced by biogas purification and CO₂ separation from biogas. Biomethane can be produced from anything of organic biological origin and can be used in: 🚗 Transport, ⚡️ Heating and electricity, ⛽️ Anywhere, where natural gas is used. The figure below by European Biogas Association beautifully illustrates the inputs and outputs of the biogases production process. ⬇️ #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #Innovation #Estonia #CleanTransportation #CircularEconomy #GreenTechnology

Rainbow Bee Eater’s (RBE) ECHO2 is a revolutionary technology that delivers real and permanent atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) removal along with clean, cool renewable gas (syngas) useful for producing renewable heat and power. Low value agricultural and organic residues are converted to high carbon biochar, used in high value agriculture, as animal feed and multiple other applications including as a value adder for low or zero carbon cement and roads. ECHO2 utilises a unique, patented continuous counterflow process, which combines efficiency, simplicity, and performance. Hot syngas created in the pyrolysis chamber exits through a packed bed of the incoming feedstock, which cleans and cools the syngas while simultaneously heating the feedstock entering the chamber. This achieves very high conversion efficiency of the biomass into biochar and syngas with very low energy consumption and no oils or tars for disposal. #syngas #biochar #pyrolysis #patentedprocess
