Is clear-night heat loss stealing critical quality and profitability from your greenhouse? 🌙 At Svensson, we are currently conducting trials in Almeria to test a simple yet powerful hypothesis: Can we increase crop production and quality in traditional greenhouses in some of the warmest regions in the world, such as Mexico, Portugal, Spain, or California, by reducing night-time heat loss while letting in as much of the best growing light 💡 as possible by day? The early results from the trials in Almeria, after one-third of the evaluation period, reveal the following: 🌱 39% more fruit per plant 🌱 18% increase in fruit weight 🌱 A whole degree of Brix sweetness 🌱 16% taller plants 🌱 42% more flowers per plant To learn more, download our guide, "The Thief in the Night," which contains strategies, unique trial data, and fascinating, star-studded scientific insights: https://bit.ly/46MmFpV If you'd like to access our guide in Spanish, please click here: https://bit.ly/46NO0HX

I am very happy and proud to share my first paper! We studied how earthworms affect plant functional traits of a herb, a grass and a legume species and how this is modulated by competition and herbivory. Earthworms gave a competitive advantage to the grass by increasing aboveground productivity and number of inflorescences. Further, we found interacting effects of herbivores and earthworms on different traits of the grass and the legume. Interestingly, earthworm presence did not change the amount of leaf that was consumed by aboveground herbivores. You can read more here: https://lnkd.in/eswkzgBp
