Continuing our series on key opportunity areas from our Alpha Innovation Radar publication on "Digital Technologies for Nature," we now focus on Sustainable Consumption. Consumers play a vital role in promoting ecological change by choosing sustainable products. To enable this, products and services must be designed for sustainable consumption. In Europe, there is a growing emphasis on sustainability, with decreasing per capita material consumption. However, sustainable practices like raw material reuse remained low at 11.7% in 2021. Transitioning to a circular economy requires substantial efforts. Digital technologies support this shift by improving lifecycle management and supply chain transparency, enabling companies to design for sustainable consumption and meet consumer demand for eco-friendly products. How? Learn more by downloading your free publication of Alpha Innovation Radar >> https://bit.ly/3XEmFGt Stay tuned for our next post where we will explore the final opportunity area: Resilient Regions.

Why come to another summit ? ! It came to my attention today that people are getting a bit fed up of the everyone talking about things but not having action with particular events.. I totally can relate to it - I had felt the same even as a speaker back in the day - asked to discuss constantly the state of fast fashion, give it a bit of boo hoo bashing and talk about how bad everything is - then on you go back to BAU - but then not get into the showcasing or practicing of real applications of what is possible .. We created the summit to showcase REAL work, business, new economics and systems that are in iteration - they may not be fully formed or realised but the key is that they are in action This is for people who know what sustainability is but want to go deeper on the real life application with speakers who are practicing and working on applied Circularity ... showcasing projects that we are working on Showing the future - Discussing the elephant in the room - where the money will come from, or how we structure the work to create more viabiity Showing real businesses that are working into evolution and design for the circular Economy, retrofitting and regenerative practice, new /old fibers , systems, tech , sharing economy, DPPs.. Join us here : to get in touch with the REAL work with Real Circularity Summit - and our work, education, coaching consultancies. Step away from the tick box work - and get REAL. JOIN HERE: https://lnkd.in/efMWyYT8 Co-founders Kenneth Alston & yours truly will be running the marthon -June 21st 10am UK to 11pm UK - virtual (join from anywhere)

Concerning sustainability, there is something termed as De-Growth. It is an interesting perspective I stumbled upon while doing a research, and I thought to share it here. What is degrowth: With respect to #sustainability? Here's the full definition of degrowth, according to economist Timothée Parrique: “Degrowth is a planned and democratic reduction of production and consumption in rich countries to reduce environmental pressures and inequality while improving well-being.” However this concept seems fresh, it has barely been explored and tapped, there is much-needed research to be done with regard to creating innovative and sustainable solutions to economic, social and governmental challenges. This concept can be applied across systems also, most importantly the area of technology and its application.

Do you think Sustainability is the next big thing? In our rapidly changing world, it is important to recognize the balance between our consumption habits and the need for sustainability. The future is not just about creating things, but also about making them last. By integrating sustainable practices into our creations, we can achieve a harmonious coexistence between innovation and preservation. Supporting sustainable initiatives contributes to a world where innovation and responsibility go hand in hand. True innovation lies in finding a balance between these two aspects. I would be delighted if there are more insights on this topic! #Sustainability #MotherEarth
