Meanwhile, launching from the less-corporate, more creative side of my desk, my new illustrated novella The Dim Beneath the Lights is now available on Amazon. If you've read one (or one hundred) too many dry business documents this week, this creepy weird-west tale, chock full of illustrations by Calgary's much-beloved Tom Bagley, might be just what you need! #contentcreation #author #fictionwriter

📚Master Book Coach | Private and Group Coaching | 🎙️Host of "Nothing but the Words" podcast | Passionate about Helping My Clients Write Powerful Books and Enjoy the Process
“I was going to write a book just like that. They stole my idea!” Every time I hear those words, I smile and shake my head. They’re usually spoken by someone with a brilliant idea for a book. They’ve had the idea for a while, sometimes even years, but they haven’t actually written the book yet. So when they see another author publish a book based on the same idea, it hits them like a slap in the face. “That should’ve been me!” Most people don’t actually believe their idea was stolen. They just really wish they’d gotten their book out there first. Just like book titles, ideas can’t be copyrighted—only your written manuscript can. From the moment you write your book, you own the copyright to it. For additional protection and proof of when your book was written, you can register it with U.S. Copyright Office (or the copyright office in your country). The cost is currently $45, and yes, you can file for copyright whether you’re seeking a traditional book deal or publishing independently. But either way, you have to write the book before you can copyright it. Ready to finally write your book? I still have openings for my 30-day audio-based book coaching. If you want support and accountability so you can finally finish your book, click the link to learn more.. https://lnkd.in/gFf4hpxN . . . . . #writingcommunity #writing #writeyourbook #bookcoach

Bestselling Ghostwriter of over 25 books that are putting their authors in the spotlight | Business, self-help, memoir | Award-winning author of two book writing guides
If you're an author, it's almost impossible to make a living from your royalties unless you're a top name. Even bestsellers don't necessarily turn into cash. This, as veteran ghostwriter IAN SHIRCORE explains, is a problem. It's also why some authors turn to ghostwriting. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/e9KrJww5

If you aren’t the sole writer of all the songs you register with Songtrust, you’ll need to register two types of writers to ensure we’re able to collect your share of song royalties from our network of pay sources. Even if your co-writers' shares are not being administered through your account, you'll still need to include their information as "Non-Collecting Writers," (previously referred to as "Outside Writers") when adding your song(s). It's World Book and Copyright Day 2024 and I have a tip for all book hoarders like me 💝: Library Thing. You will love this site and its helpful free app. Just scan the barcode of any book you own or the very many you will buy next, and it's immediately saved, with access to info on the author and much more. No code bar? No problem: just enter the available data and possible matches will be shown. Very few things beat the joy of seeing the nicely-organized-easily-accessible list of your most precious possessions, except maybe adding to it... Enjoy! 😉 https://lnkd.in/eF_YC2xJ Full link on the comments. ❥❥❥ Hi, Elsa here. Although this text is written in (some sort of) English, I write for my clients exclusively in Portuguese and French, my 2 mother tongues, and I translate from English, Spanish, Dutch, and French/Portuguese. Let me know what you need, so we can discuss what I can do for you. #humantranslator #professionaltranslator #bookworldday #booklovers #library #personallibrary #bookhoarding #reading #reader #readingliterary #literature #litranslator #literarytranslation

#Consistency Years ago, while working with a bookshop as a shop attendant, I remember reading everyday as if that was all I came there for. Every free moment was to me an opportunity to read. One morning, I took the novel titled "Grief Child" by Lawrence Dramani, a Ghanaian writer. As I took the book, my boss said: you Manasse, you must touch every book before it's sold out; but please make sure none of them gets dirty: I never knew she's been observing me Born from a typical African family, you'll agree with me that reading is considered rich people's hobby so who cares if you read or not. Reading is not always interesting especially if you have no great interest for the topic; however I did because I am in constant pursuit of knowledge far away from parents without anyone to encourage and when I look back today, I say: It was worth it. Any achievement requires consistency and to be consistent requires discipline and discipline is not always comfortable. One of my mentors "Apostle #Joshua_Selman" said: it's very important to add value into what you do, but above all, the most important is to invest in yourself irrespective of whether comfortable or not and become that value yourself. #Think_About_it #Motivation #Equipping_youths #Speaker #Interprète #Translator #Interpreter #Traducteur #Simultaneous_Interpretation #Consecutive_Interpretation
