A poster at the IST conference by Selma Mujkic with inputs from Katherine Shabb Stefan Anderberg Annica Carlsson “The aim of this research is to contribute to improving the design and implementation of strategies that make it possible for cities to reach ambitious climate goals. The research addresses the development of city climate strategies focusing on two member cities of the translocal network, Viable Cities, namely Linköping and Malmö in Sweden. Day 3 of the #arcticcongress at the final plenary session on Climate and the Environment looking through Arctic research and policy approaches. Here are the key strands that have stuck with me today, strengthening the case for our government to press on with truly progressive modes of governance starting at the local level: 🌁Need for representation of islands at infrastructure and national strategy decision making tables. Every. Single. Time. 🌍 Strengthening consideration of climate change across all decisions at every level. 📄 Stronger evaluation of the policies and plans on an iterative basis or we cannot understand the impacts they may or may not be having. 🗂️Organisational cooperation is the foundation for good governance, agreement is not. Who does what is important. 🗣️Communities and changing landscapes hold the answers about the trajectory of their Fate Control. CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency invited the #MSP community to gather for 2 days of exchanges on #data, on challenges and recommendations for a #SustainableBlueEconomy, and on how MSP can be a driver for #crossborder #cooperation. More than ever relevant to continue the discussions with our #Emfaf projects and beyond.

I'm honored to join the Federal Advisory Council for Climate Adaptation Science! This newly chartered Council will provide recommendations on: ✅ the contents of a national strategy identifying key climate adaptation science priorities ✅ the nature, extent, and quality of relations with and engagement of key partners at the regional/Climate Adaptation Science Center (CASC) level; ✅ the nature and effectiveness of mechanisms to effectively deliver science information and tools, and build capacity, to aid the natural and cultural resource management community and decision-makers in adapting to a changing climate; ✅ mechanisms that may be employed by the NCASC to ensure high standards of scientific quality and integrity in its products, and to review and evaluate the performance of individuals CASCs, in advance of opportunities to re-establish expiring agreements; and ✅ the integration of equity, particularly for historically underserved communities, in the operation of the NCASC and regional CASCs. I am happy and humbled to share that I received the 2023 Midwest Climate Resilience Conference travel award (registration, accommodation, travel costs fully covered). It is a competitive and prestigious opportunity for emerging scholars. I look forward to presenting my postdoctoral research (October 25 - 27th, 2023) in Duluth, Minnesota, USA and meeting my Minnesota friends and sister.
