Water quality in many countries has significantly deteriorated in recent years due to industry, plastic waste, and periods of drought and flooding. The urgency of these issues calls for our collective commitment to finding smart, technological solutions to use the available water more efficiently. The ASEAN region also aims to make better use of industrial wastewater or even reuse it, a goal that we can achieve together. Tomorrow starts the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW). The SIWW - held every two years - is a global platform that hosts global leaders from industry, government and research, to discuss and co-create, innovate water, coastal and flood solutions. This year, the focus will be on water technology and coastal and flood resilience, addressing issues that are of global concern and require collective action. A Dutch delegation of water experts - including the participation of Dutch water envoy Meike van Ginneken - will be attending the SIWW to discuss the water challenges in Southeast Asia. We invite you to visit the Netherlands Pavilion that will be located on Hall A, stand L1-F11. In addition to the Pavilion, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore will host several events to boost new partnerships and strengthen existing ones: https://lnkd.in/ez2cTxKf Join us in taking water action and discuss water solutions! World Water Day is an annual observance celebrated on March 22 to highlight the significance of freshwater, especially during times of water scarcity, such as the ongoing Bengaluru water crisis. This year, the tech hub is experiencing severe water shortages due to failed monsoons and diminishing groundwater resources . The concept of World Water Day was introduced at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, where the first formal proposal for the observance was presented under Agenda 21. Following this, the United Nations General Assembly officially declared March 22 as World Water Day in December 1992. The United Nations uses World Water Day to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources and launches its flagship report on water and sanitation annually on this day. Each year, a new theme is adopted, with this year focusing on “Water for prosperity and peace.” The 2024 edition of the UN’s flagship World Water Development Report (WWDR) will delve into this theme and highlight areas concerning clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) that align with Sustainable Development Goal. In the context of the message for UN’s World Water Day 2024, it is emphasized that water can play a crucial role in either fostering peace or triggering conflicts. Scarcity, pollution, and unequal access to water can drive tensions in societies, making cooperation essential to meet the needs of all. Moreover, water cooperation is viewed as central to addressing the challenges related to climate change, and maintaining peace and prosperity. The message highlights how unity around fair and sustainable water use, coupled with international and local actions, can lead to peaceful resolution of the water crisis. #thek4pmovement #kpopforpeace #happyworldwaterday

#WORLD #WATER #DAY2024. The World Water Day, we celebrated on March 22 every year, is an occasion to realize the importance of freshwater, especially this year amid the #ongoing #Bengaluru water crisis. The tech hub is facing an acute water shortage due to failed monsoons and drying groundwater resources. #History In 1992, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro saw the first formal proposal of World Water Day under Agenda 21. The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution in December 1992 by which #March 22 was #declared #World #Water #Day. #Significance The United Nations (#UN) marks this day to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. On this day, the UN’s flagship report on water and sanitation is launched every year. #Theme The theme for this year is ‘#Water #for #Prosperity #and #Peace." Thus, the 2024 edition of the UN’s flagship World Water Development Report (WWDR) report will explore this theme and be released today. Also the theme changes every year, but the central focus remains on topics relevant to #clean #water, #sanitation, and #hygiene (WASH), which is in line with the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 6. So let's make every effort to conserve water and reduce waste where we live in the world.🌍 #worldwaterday #waterconservation #enviroments #safetyinformation #hygeine #savewater.

Quite an interesting article for World Water Day 2024. https://lnkd.in/d59JUp5D While one of the primary aims of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to ensure universal access to safe water by 2030, the reality remains stark: 🚰 2 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water. 🚿 3.6 billion lack access to safe sanitation. 🚾 2.3 billion people lack basic handwashing facilities. 🚱 Additionally, a significant portion of wastewater is discharged into nature untreated, while 3 billion people are at risk due to inadequate knowledge about the health of the lakes, rivers, and groundwater sources they rely on. 💦 Do you think their goal is achievable? 💧 Have you ever faced issues accessing safe drinking water? 🥤 Do you read the label of the water bottle you buy to check its contents? 🔫 Do you have any water conservation habits? 🙋 Here are some of the steps I take concerning water, and I'm constantly striving to improve 🏡 (Because I live in a house with land and CAN): ⚠️ SOME MAY BE OVER THE TOP! 🌱 Harvesting rainwater in large tanks so I can water my plants during the summer. 🚿 Opting for showers instead of long baths. 🛀 When bathing my daughter, I share the same bath 🙃. 🍽️ I own a dishwasher, but I wipe excess off the plates and cutlery before starting and only use the eco program for 50 minutes twice a week. 🚰 If I need to hand wash dishes, I soak them first and stop the water running while cleaning with washing up liquid. 🪥 Not letting the tap run while I brush my teeth or hands. 🎽 Washing clothes only when I have a full load. 💧 Collecting time to time in used 5 litre containers for days when the supplier decides to turn the tap off! - it happened 5 times last summer! Why am I concerned? 🔙 In my childhood, although we had a well, the acces of waterfacilities into the house took a while, many years I didn't know what's a tap water or used outside toilet! 🔜 I don't want the same or any issues regarding water for my daughter or the next generations. 💥 Follow me for more sustainable lifestyle tips and leave a comment below sharing your thoughts and actions to help address water issues worldwide! #thesustainablemarketer
