February 27th is World NGO Day. On World NGO Day, we celebrate the global contributions made by non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Tackling a range of social, environmental and humanitarian challenges, NGOs are usually independent, not-for-profit organisations working at local, national or international levels. They play a vital role in addressing global issues, promoting human rights and fostering sustainable development. #WorldNGODay #nonprofitorganizations #nongovernmentalorganizations #NGOs #nonprofit

The Movements’ Trust believes that social action is desperately needed in today’s world - people-powered solutions are essential way we can rise to the challenge presented by the climate and nature emergencies, as well as the threat of fragmented communities, a rising cost of living, pollution and lack of access to sustainable employment- movements like Autosafety - Uganda who take a practical and constructive approach to cutting vehicle emissions and improving communities. Social movements can respond swiftly to opportunity, represent communities and their specific needs, mobilise energy and strengthen democracy and economies - they offer something unique that we should protect, rather than forcing them to register as a charity in order to access funding. Community organisers and social movements are severely hampered by the barriers to funding that informal and unregistered entities face, particularly in their early stages - our mission is to partner with them, act as charity sponsor, and advocate for their work so they can access the funding they need, as well as to provide other support that maximises their effectiveness. Consider making a donation to the Movements Trust in order to get more funding to social movements movements like Autosafety Uganda https://lnkd.in/ezjV9jvs #climatecrisis #peoplepower #reformphilanthropy #movementbuilding #justtransition

Embracing the spirit of thoughtful contributions. Today's best practices come from All Dreams Cambodia that sets a remarkable example of how companies can profoundly impact their communities and beyond. Their dedication to cultural preservation, education, and environmental protection highlights the diverse avenues through which organizations can contribute to society's improvement. 🍀 By actively supporting local events, All Dreams Cambodia not only celebrates the rich tapestry of local culture but also opens the doors for others, including staff, friends, and guests, to appreciate and partake in these cultural experiences. As well their support for an association that equips children from underprivileged backgrounds with education and vital art skills. 🌍Donations are done also through initiatives like the annual charity party lucky draw and scholarships. 🔝 Noteworthy is their financial commitment, allocating money annually, which includes supporting students for study tours, and contributing to environmental protection through membership fees. This approach to donations—spanning financial, in-kind contributions, and sharing expertise—exemplifies the multifaceted impact businesses can have. Do you know other examples of donations or contributions towards the communities or environment? Global Solidarity: Support Marginalized Communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo The donation is a powerful tool to promote inclusion and development in marginalized communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in line with United Nations standards. By contributing resources, time or skills, you are making a tangible difference to the lives of people who face significant challenges such as limited access to basic services, violence and social exclusion. It is crucial to remember that donating not only provides immediate aid, but also contributes to strengthening local capacities and empowering communities. By investing in education, health, nutrition and economic development projects, we are building a more sustainable and equitable future for all Congolese citizens. Together, we can create a lasting positive impact by supporting marginalized communities in DR Congo. Let's show global solidarity and work towards a world where everyone has fair opportunities and access to basic rights. #savieasblngo #donation #solidarity #sustainabledevelopment #humanrights

Award-winning Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Expert, UN Women SHE Innovator, Innovative data-driven Trainer & Coach, 3x Founder including Canadian Equality Consulting and Equality360
Canadian Equality Consulting is closed to commemorate September 30th - allowing our employees to select either Friday or Monday to take off for deeper learning and reflection on Truth and Reconciliation. We are completing First Nations University of Canada Four Seasons of Reconciliation program, attending Indigenous theatre and films, participating in guided hikes with Indigenous Elders, and much more. Truth and Reconciliation is an ongoing journey and must be practiced and advanced daily. We have prepared some actions that workplaces can take to advance reconciliation: - Education: Attend Indigenous-led workshops or trainings. Check out Lorelei Higgins' e-course: https://lnkd.in/gMP_6Yv7 - Support: Donate your time or money to an Indigenous-led organization or community. - Engage in dialogue: Don't shy away from difficult conversations. Question and reflect on your sense of discomfort when having these conversations - how can you learn from it? - Relationship building: Go beyond land acknowledgements and develop a relationship with local Indigenous communities. Ensure the relationship is not extractive in nature by encouraging reciprocity. - Show leadership: Keep learning and share resources and learnings with others in your network. - Create an Action Plan: Create a personal and an organizational Reconciliation Action Plan. Hold yourself accountable. #Reconciliation #ReconciliACTION #TruthAndReconciliation #September30 #OrangeShirtDay
Saturday is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day that urges the opening of a global conversation about the effects of Residential Schools on Indigenous Peoples. It's a time to reflect on our responsibility to commit to ongoing education and growth, build respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples, donate to Indigenous organizations, and commit to non-performative allyship. How can you recognize NDTR in your workplace? Swipe for ways you can take action in your workplace. For those who need support, there are many crisis lines available in every province across Canada.
