Anduril Industries has launched Pulsar, a first-of-its-kind family of modular, multi-mission-capable electromagnetic warfare (EW) systems. ⚡️ These EW systems utilize artificial intelligence at the tactical edge to rapidly identify and defeat current and future threats across the electromagnetic spectrum, including small and medium-size drones. The next generation of EW systems must enable real-time understanding of the spectrum, and provide rapid delivery of effective countermeasures against known and new threats, across domains and modalities. "As modern warfare pushes further and further into the digital realm, the Pentagon needs the latest and greatest in wireless technology to support its increasingly complex network needs. But when that technology comes from a sector motivated by profit rather than national security requirements, the Defense Department needs to find a way to take advantage of both worlds. Military operations rely on secure wireless networks for piloting drones, connecting sensors and communicating, among other things. Today, a commercial market that has poured billions of dollars into research and development means standards-based 5G — or fifth generation — networks are ahead of Defense Department comms in both technical and performance criteria, said Mari Silbey, senior director of partnerships and outreach at technology nonprofit US Ignite." https://lnkd.in/g7z6mQZE I am happy that SFPD has these new tools, but from the article's statements about the requirements, it sounds like what they need is persistent situational awareness that could be more efficiently provided by an aircraft with wide area motion imagery. Current electric multi-rotors do not have the endurance or ruggedness to have the stamina for this maritime environment for any logical sustainment. Maybe Logos Technologies could help? or BAE Systems? The challenge in the SFO AOR is the weather - then operationally you have the tall buildings which equate to longer focal lengths and better stability for imaging sensors.
