VP Sales EMEA said to me yesterday – “Where I’m working now is horrific – heavy handed/hire & fire. I made the wrong call to join and it’s made me more cautious about my next move. I have 8 interview processes on the go and I’ve got no time to do my day job! – it’s a full time job making a career move” A toxic culture must be rejected and putting up with it is not an option/doesn’t make you stronger. Move on as soon as possible. Just don’t jump from the frying pan into the fire. This is a horrible situation to be in. Simple rule of recruiting. Learn to show up every day. Because you will have many bad days. And that’s just a given because it’s a people-driven business. And you never know what to expect from people. At the end of the day, the good days will always outweigh the bad ones. Then you are reminded why you made this a long-term career. The hardest thing about recruiting for your business... You want to show candidates how great the opportunity is BUT You have to be clear on the challenges that come with the role. The last thing you want is to sell a candidate "the dream" when the reality is very different. No one wins if someone starts a new role that doesn't match their expectations.
