2nd week of January and the 'open to new opportunities' notifications are flooding in. Have the tough conversation upfront if you're concerned about job security. We're all hired for a core job to be done. The core job can change quickly and may no longer be a priority. But we're also hired for other related, consumption and emotional jobs in the organisation. An unfortunate symptom of difficult times is that communication from above becomes less frequent. We need to take control of the conversation. Ask your manager, "What's changed in our company's job to be done, and how can I adapt my role to address this?"
