LSI LASTEM has provided a weather monitoring station to IGG-CNR for an extraordinary project in the High Arctic! ❄️🌍 The station will measure CO2 concentrations in the snowpack, necessary to calculate the CO2 fluxes, collecting important data to better understand global climate change. After rigorous preliminary tests at Monte Cimone (IT), the weather station is ready to face the extreme weather conditions of the Arctic! Title: "Analyzing Land Surface Temperature (LST) with Landsat 8 Data in Google Earth Engine for Agartala Municipal Council" These extreme temperatures are indicative of the impact of #climatechange. Climate change refers to long-term shifts in weather patterns and global temperatures caused primarily by human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels, urbanization and #deforestation. Satellites play a vital role in monitoring and understanding climate change by providing real-time data on Land Surface Temperatures (#LST) over large areas, helping scientists analyze temperature trends, identify hotspots, and validate climate models. Towards dark blue to red indicating LST decrease and increase 6 & 9 degrees Celsius #GEE, #GIS, #Geospatial, #LST, #Envirnment #Landsat, #Remotesensing

Earth now beyond six of nine planetary boundaries. (Science) This planetary boundaries framework update finds that six of the nine boundaries are transgressed, suggesting that Earth is now well outside of the safe operating space for humanity. Ocean acidification is close to being breached, while aerosol loading regionally exceeds the boundary. Stratospheric ozone levels have slightly recovered. The transgression level has increased for all boundaries earlier identified as overstepped. As primary production drives Earth system biosphere functions, human appropriation of net primary production is proposed as a control variable for functional biosphere integrity. This boundary is also transgressed.
