LTL ? (Less than truckload freight shipping) LTL or partial truck loading is a transportation option when the freight of one consigner occupies a part of the vehicle’s cargo space. That is, consignments of goods from several shippers are collected at the carrier’s warehouse, then placed in a car following in one direction.. http://skyflytrucking.com #skyflytrucking #ltl #drayage

I wanted to share an interesting case from this week regarding the difference between Overweight (OW) loads and the legal weight limits for 20' containers in California. We had 11 containers, each weighing 44,420 lbs, which I am sure had been rejected by other carriers before they came to us. We negotiated a rate and emphasized that all loads needed to be weighed, especially since they would pass through a 24/7 scale in Santa Clarita. Unfortunately, the customer declined them. I advised him of the two possible issues when loads might exceed 80,000 lbs: **Improper Load Distribution: If the cargo isn't distributed correctly, it could result in an over-axle situation. If detected, the load will need to be taken to a warehouse for redistribution, incurring extra charges for a stop-off. **Carrier Rejection: The initial carrier might have to reject the load once pulled from the port if it exceeds legal limits. This means paying a partial fee to one carrier and finding another with the necessary OW permits, which could be more costly. Scaling the cargo is just $14 USD and can save you headaches. Make sure to use a carrier with a tri-axle chassis. Trust me, no one wants to handle cargo without knowing the correct weight. Many brokers, forwarders, or shippers in California still ask: "How is it overweight if the legal weight is 80,000 lbs?" Here's the breakdown of legal axle weights for a “normal” (dual axle) chassis: **Axle 1 - Steer: 12,000 lbs **Axle 2 - Drive: 34,000 lbs **Axle 3 - Tandem: 34,000 lbs If your load exceeds these limits on any/all axles, it’s considered OVERWEIGHT by Caltrans and the State of California . . . #California #shippers #freightforwarder #drayage #logistics

Attention Shippers and Carriers! Brake Safety Week 2023 takes place from August 20 - 26. For Shippers, to ensure critical shipments arrive on-time, review transit times and consider pushing shipments out earlier when possible. For Carriers, the focus of this year’s Brake Safety Week is on the condition of the brake lining and pad. Pay special attention to the brake system components during pre-trip inspections. #GoBeon #transportation #supplychain #freight

Container exports makes me want to JUMP, JUMP 🪀🪀🪀🪀🪀🪀🪀 How many times does the truck show up to an export loading appt only to get rejected due to a deemed “issue” with the empty? Too many is the answer 🤦♂️. Here is a sneak peek 👀into a training session with our 🎉NEW 🎉 “Container Integrity Team”. This team will validate the integrity of each export container before loading, paying close attention to walls and floors. The archaic "Box Rules" which stipulated that was one of the (many) reasons why there was a chassis dislocation across the US from 2021-2023 which added to the supply chain crisis we all experienced. Now with this new rule, motor truck carriers don't have to check which chassis they have each time they go pickup an ocean container because it won't matter anymore! https://lnkd.in/gyCDMTSk Here is the ATA's response to the news: https://lnkd.in/gdZdj4dA

The closure of the Port of Baltimore and the loss of the Francis Scott Key Bridge are expected to have significant implications for transpacific trade lanes. It is advised that while there may be available truck capacity in the US, there might not be enough drivers, tractors, and chassis available for containers diverted to alternate ports. As a result, the closure of the Port of Baltimore is likely to disrupt the US east coast market, leading to increased costs and logistical challenges for importers. If you would like to understand more about this situation and its implications for your business, please feel free to reach out to us for further information and assistance. #RSLogistics #Freightforwarder #Freightforwarder Source: JOC
