Today’s violent and complex world has drawn many historical analogies, particularly with the 1950s and the start of the Cold War. While the current geopolitical landscape does not feature two blocs in the Cold War sense, we can distinguish two families of countries or “worlds,” geographically, but above all politically and culturally.

Anton Chaitkin, historian extraordinaire, on peace. "I urge you to circulate this widely, and to deliberate on the proposal with others. "Real peace will require a double approach: "--- guaranteed security from attack, for both sides; "--- capital-intensive investment projects to permanently improve life in the embattled region. "This program is possible only by cooperation between East and West. "In the session, I gave examples for such a two-pronged policy from America’s post-Civil War Reconstruction era; and from the impassioned efforts of Franklin Roosevelt and John Kennedy to lift the world out of poverty and confrontation. "These is a worldwide popular shift against the policy promoting war and chaos. "This public energy can be brought into support of a real peace policy. "Let us bring into wide discussion a serious proposal to prevent global catastrophe." https://lnkd.in/eDPXYR2g

Today’s two truths and a question: 1) “The more things you have, the more things you have to manage. Simplicity isn't merely cheaper, it's easier."”–James Clear, the 3-2-1 Newsletter 2) The most undervalued freedom of our times is freedom of conscience. Our governments hardly need to subvert the press or confiscate weapons when we citizens voluntarily outsource our consciences to corporate, political, and other entities. Question: How will our times register in the archaeological record of the future? #TruthfulTuesday

Correct. And as I’ve been saying for 7 weeks: “Be patient.” Americans are lousy doing patience. Moreover, paraphrasing Winston: “This is not the beginning of the end; but it is perhaps the end of the beginning.” Succinctly: Modern wars take many years, many lives, and much money. We ought to be glad #ukraine has the honor, intention, and ability to do the fighting. It’s their blood—they make the rules, set the stage, and decree the tempo. Having worked closely with their strategists over 18 months, I’ll add that they know exactly what they’re doing. The #nato states are getting an absolute bargain. It would be a bargain at ten times the cost. If you don’t agree, I’ll simply say that you don’t know squat about #geostrategy #geopolitics #eurosecurity #globalsecurity #futureworld As I said last week: Give ‘em what they ask for, sit down, and be quiet. And try being patient, especially if you’re an American 🙄 #standwithukraine 🇺🇦 #russiafail #putintwilight #endgame
