Mining and sustainability can coexist through: 1. _Responsible mining practices_: Implementing environmental and social impact assessments, rehabilitation plans, and minimizing waste. 2. _Technology and innovation_: Adopting clean technologies, renewable energy, and efficient extraction methods. 3. _Stakeholder engagement_: Collaborating with local communities, NGOs, and governments to ensure inclusive decision-making. 4. _Environmental stewardship_: Protecting biodiversity, conserving water, and rehabilitating mined land. 5. _Circular economy approaches_: Encouraging recycling, reusing materials, and reducing waste. 6. _Transparency and accountability_: Regular reporting, auditing, and compliance with international standards. 7. _Investing in community development_: Supporting local economic growth, education, and health initiatives. 8. _Closure planning_: Ensuring responsible mine closure and rehabilitation to minimize long-term environmental impacts. By adopting these practices, mining can be conducted in a way that minimizes its environmental footprint and contributes to sustainable development.

This is amazing!! I love that techers and miners are in the same room and ideas can be exchanged on how to pass the message on the importance of mining.

It was great to be part of this teacher training. Special thanks to Alaska Resource Education and Rebecca (Beki) Toussaint for their leadership on this topic -- I was able to use some of their resources to educate teachers in Colorado!
