We are incredibly grateful to have been invited by the DCSEU to speak last Friday about the 1.8 MW community solar system New Columbia owns and operates at Paradise at Parkside. We are proud to have partnered with Paradise at Parkside to deliver cleaner and cheaper energy across the district, as well as to assist them in developing and implementing their sustainability journey. #EnergyEfficiency #SolarPower #SustainableFuture 🌞🌿🏢

We’re so excited to share that SELF, along with our partners Solar United Neighbors and The Nature Conservancy in Florida, has been awarded $156 Million through the EPA’s Solar for All competition! With this historic funding, the Florida Solar for All Coalition will partner with local governments, community-based organizations, and others to deploy clean solar energy to benefit thousands of Florida households and transform communities that have been historically underinvested. This will be a game-changer in expanding clean energy access throughout the state of Florida, lowering costs and carbon emissions, increasing resilience, and ensuring a just and equitable clean energy transition. Florida is the second-largest producer of electricity in the US. As the sunshine state continues its clean energy transition, we still have a really LONG way to go. In 2022, natural gas fueled around 74% of Florida's total electricity net generation, nuclear power supplied 12%, Coal 6%, and renewable resources make up the rest. As for total solar production in Florida, 77% was from utility-scale solar and 23% from small-scale solar. #solar #solarpv #renewableenergy

Communities Through Solar Energy Community solar projects are lighting the way towards a sustainable future, offering a beacon of hope for communities worldwide. These initiatives harness the power of the sun to generate clean, renewable energy while promoting social equity and environmental stewardship. By pooling resources and sharing the benefits of solar energy, community solar projects democratize access to renewable power. They enable individuals and organizations to participate in the clean energy transition, regardless of income level or property ownership. This inclusivity fosters a sense of collective ownership and responsibility, strengthening community ties and resilience. Moreover, community solar projects contribute to local economic development by creating jobs, stimulating investment, and reducing energy costs for participants. They also help mitigate climate change by displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution. As the demand for sustainable energy solutions grows, so does the importance of community solar projects. By championing these initiatives, we can accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more equitable energy system while building stronger, more resilient communities. Join the solar revolution today and be part of the solution! #CommunitySolar #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #SolarPower #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction #Empowerment #CommunityDevelopment #GreenFuture #SolarRevolution #GoSolar #EnvironmentalJustice #EnergyTransition #IconsEdge #IconsEdgeBusinessLeadership #IconsEdgeExecutiveInsights #IndustryLeaders #IconsEdgeCorporateVision #IconsEdgePerspectives #IconsEdgeBusinessMagazine #ExecutiveEdition #CEOInsights #IndustryMagazine #IconsEdgeLeadershipJournal #ProfessionalGrowthJourney

This is a very important primer on an extremely relevant and important driver of solar in the context of historically excluded communities. Please take a look and learn all about what Solar Stewards is doing.
Solar Stewards is proud to publish our helpful primer on Social RECs for 2024 and beyond. Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) are a powerful tool for renewable energy development, and can now be used to catalyze renewable deployment in historically excluded communities. Solar Stewards passes 100% of Social REC proceeds to community partners through community-led community benefit agreements. With Social RECs, community comes first! Foundational to a Circular Economy is renewable energy. We are seeing a shift in companies within the Circular Economy, notably material recyclers, integrating Solar PV energy into their operations. Companies, notably Cape Town companies, that have positioned themselves within the circular economy should consider integrating Solar PV into their energy mix. In the context of South Africa, this is not only a societal and environmental imperative, but a strategic business decision to enhance resilience and remain relevant and competitive in an uncertain future. For guidance on how to go solar, see the below collaboration by GreenCape and Wesgro "CEO's Guide to Going Solar". Argon Poorun Belvana Abeli
Looking to build a sustainable business in 2024❓ Download the ‘CEO’s Guide to Going Solar’ ☀, a comprehensive guide on how to future-proof your business through access to solar energy, brought to you by GreenCape and Wesgro. We wanted to reintroduce ourselves to you and share how exactly we are supporting a cleaner and greener future. We are Kent Community Energy and we put power in the hands of the community. We are looking for help to create a cleaner and brighter future for our communities in Kent. We do this by asking residents and businesses across Kent to participate in the county’s transition to net zero and receive a target annual return of 6%. You can do this by becoming a shareholder in which you will own a stake in a fully operational solar farm near Sittingbourne, receive a fair return on your investment and have a say in how profits are reinvested in renewable energy, sustainability and community projects across the county. Investing in Kent Community Energy could be your first big step along the way to a fairer, sustainable future for all. Find out more about us here https://lnkd.in/eQbQjfPK or invest and help us build a better future for Kent https://lnkd.in/ekv8C5nj

Communities want to see genuine community benefits delivered through the energy transition. Seems fair enough! This week we spoke with Victorian wind farms about the opportunity to work with communities about delivering shared value. And that means, having conversations with the people on the ground. Our community research shows: ➡ The impacts of renewable energy infrastructure are real and diverse on landholders and regional communities, including visual impacts, financial loss, biosecurity risks and biodiversity ➡ Landholders and communities identify limited on-the-ground benefits from the energy transition ➡ A focus on impact mitigation is required to facilitate co-existence Strong engagement with landholders and communities is critical to realising the opportunities Our Better Practice Social Practice Guideline highlights how renewable energy businesses can build and maintain social licence in communities, including Priority Actions and Better Practice Opportunities. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/g9xYKxAU Next year we expect to be doing some deeper dive work to encourage Better Practice Community Benefit Schemes. Want to get involved?
