Chief Executive Officer at New Pennsylvania Project — Expanding Democracy by Expanding the Electorate
I wrote this: When it Comes to Our Freedom to Vote, the Two Parties Are Not the Same “Leading an organization with a primary focus of expanding democracy by expanding the electorate – through voter registration, civic engagement, and education – we frequently hear: “I’m not interested in voting. My vote doesn’t matter. Nothing changes. The two parties are the same.’ The two major political parties in Pennsylvania are not the same. When it comes to advocating for our freedom to vote, legislating for enhanced accessibility to the ballot, and more convenient voting options for the electorate, it’s not even close.” https://lnkd.in/eTv2FEqT

We are 9 days away from the Presidential Primary on March 23. We are 18 days away from municipal election on April 2. We are 144 days away from primary elections on August 6. Join the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis in the St. Louis County Voter Empowerment Tour. If you missed the last two stops, you can make it to the next one. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED. The tour will continue on March 19, 2024 at 11:00am at Moline Acres City Hall, 2454 Chambers Rd St. Louis, MO 63136. The St. Louis County Voter Empowerment Tour will focus on education and engagement around increasing the voter turnout of the black community in St. Louis County. The disenfranchisement of Black Americans has long outlasted the end of the Civil War, with modern instances of voter suppression in the form of limitations on absentee and early voting, stricter voter ID requirements, restrictions on voter registration, and other systemic barriers that decrease the voting engagement of minority populations. The more we are informed on the issues and state of affairs of our community, we can begin have a generational impact by participating in the democratic process.
