Both try to do the same thing, convince sports viewers to spend 300 dollars on their products by demonstrating a benefit in a compelling way across 60 seconds - but that's where the similarities end. https://lnkd.in/e6hqKbmx 🏈YoutubeTV's latest campaign, slyly playing with insight into National Football League (NFL) fans that find themselves in unfriendly geographies for their team isn't just an insightful and playful approach - it also dramatizes the benefits of NFL Sunday ticket (access to all the games anywhere in the country and their multi-game viewing feature) really well. https://lnkd.in/eE_QZGdi 🪑Alternatively X-Chair. Now, I firmly believe in not tearing down #advertising - as behind every ad are talented agencies and clients that set off to do something great and potentially landed somewhere they didn't intend to. However, I have many questions about 'X-Chair'. If you haven't come across this ad in numerous US sports coverage yet, enjoy a 60 second ad that references everything from: - Leveraging the basic elements of the universe when you sit in it (fire, earth, water all combine in the style of Captain Planet) 🔥 🌬 🌊 - Building the 'future of sitting' for whatever comes next 💺 - Even that 'X-Chair has done it again' without any reference to when or what they did before. Absurdity as an approach has its place in advertising, but I still can't figure out if its intentional or unintentional in this case. Advertising strategy is constantly under time and resource pressure, especially in a world of fast moving campaigns and increasing automation, But if strategy is, as I've heard it described, the tool to increase the probability of a brand's success - I think these two examples show how much of a headstart a thoughtful strategy or a rich insight can create. #advertising #strategy #marketing

The issue with last-click attribution explained from a footy fan's POV ⚽ Centre half through balls to winger who runs the length of the pitch, squares it to the the striker who scores (converts) Last-click attribution will tell you the striker is the sole reason for the conversion Striker will receive the praise The ad will receive the ROAS Shit media buyers will define this as a winning creative and look to increase spend around said specific asset But we know that isn't the full story Last kick = Last click Even Haaland needs KDB for most conversions View your ad performance solely through this lens to your brand's detriment If you don't like my football analogy think of it this way - Take off your marketing cap and put your consumer hat on What was the last thing you purchased online? Did you see an ad for the first time click and purchase in one swoop?! How long was the buying journey? How many touchpoints influenced your decision? You get the point... Philadelphia Eagles to open 2024 regular season in Brazil The Eagles have been chosen to play in the National Football League (NFL) 's first-ever game in Brazil in Week 1 on Friday, September 6 to kick off their 2024 regular season, Commissioner Roger Goodell announced on Monday in his annual conversation with the media prior to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. "Está pronto para ver os Eagles no Brasil?" (In Portuguese, "Are you ready to watch the Eagles in Brazil?") "The Eagles organization is honored to have been selected to play in the first-ever National Football League game in South America," said Jeffrey Lurie, Philadelphia Eagles Chairman and CEO. "With the global growth of our sport being a top priority to our league, we embrace the opportunity to grow our fanbase around the world and bring Eagles football to the 38 million sports fans in Brazil. One of the world's most culturally diverse nations, Brazil is an international melting pot, and we look forward to experiencing its warm, vibrant, and welcoming environment later this year." As part of the NFL International Series, this will be the first Friday night game on opening weekend in more than 50 years. The opponent and kickoff time will be announced at a later date closer to when the 2024 NFL schedule is revealed this spring. The contest will be played at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil with a seating capacity of 47,252. For the first time since I started with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, I went to an away game (in 110-degree Las Vegas!). It's amazing to see how other teams in the United Soccer League (USL) do things, and how their fans interact with their brand. If you're in sports marketing, I think it's vital to travel with the team every once in a while to get some fresh perspective, because you can always improve on the fan experience. You're competing against everyone else that thinks they have the best team ▶Make Sure Your Naming is ON POINT Naming conventions matter. If your naming conventions are weak, you're probably not a very good team. Very low hanging fruit to sorting through your data. ▶Be Obsessed With Stats You need to be living in those stats sheets and box scores. Analyze which of your players are performing the best and make the best possible changes to your roster that will take your team to the championship. ▶ Don't Get Attached A lot of us grow an attachment to our players/ads. You need to understand it's okay to let them hit the waiver wire. Get rid of what's not working. ▶Make Sure You Win I'm sure your S/O is tired of you spending so much time on this damn thing. So you BETTER win. If you win, you get that nice check. Make sure you're using some of it to treat them so they know why you're spending so much time doing this. #advertising #ads #fantasyfootball
