Why Mechanical Engineers are falling behind... Now a days I hear a lot from Mechanical Engineers about decreasing job opportunities, not getting good salaries, not getting timely promotions and career growth. Most of the folks who express these feelings fail to retrospect and see where they stand in terms of skills required by the industry. There are many who blindly support this and nowadays people have labelled Mechanical Engineering as something very bad and unlucky to be in. But let me tell you, this is not the fact. I work with lot of Mechanical Engineers day in day out who possess diverse industry experience. I conduct lot of interviews of Mechanical Engineers. I can safely say that fault is not of the society or industry, but the fault lies with individuals who don't want to get mastery in what they do. In this era of instant food and 2 minute noodles, folks expect managerial positions without proving their expertise in technical stuff. There are lot of job opportunities for Mechanical Engineers provided they showcase their skills. Often I have seen that folks are not aware about half the things mentioned in their resume. They are not able to explain their exact contribution in the departmental activities, they don't learn anything outside the purview of their daily job, they don't take specialised training in their area of work. I am not against expecting good career growth and handsome salary. But you should focus on becoming expert of something and you need to give time to reach a certain position by proving yourself. A very simple act like studying about a company where you go for interview doesn't cost anything. All the information is available on their website, but folks don't bother to go through it. They don't go prepared about that company's products and skills they may be looking for. When given an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the interview, people ask "how many times I will have to visit factory?". Instead they should be asking about what more they can learn on the job. This is just an example. And folks cry about how cruel the industry is for Mechanical Engineers. It's time to stop cribbing and focus on building solid skills required by the industry. Please understand that creating 3D model is not designing. Hope fellow members take things seriously and act. ©️ Vaibhav Ganpule image credit: shiksha #mechanicalengineering #mechanicalengineer #mechanical #mechanicalengineers #mechanicaldesign #mechanicaldesign #mechanicaldesignengineer

For Budding Mechanical Engineers… Interview Questions. When you are attending any interviews for Design / R&D / Engineering, then please expect few questions on Bearings. There are lot to learn in Bearings. Understand each type and how they can be used under different load condition, how they can be fixed etc. Though there are many parameters that are required to select a bearing, mainly Load and Speed gives 50% spec and other 50% is given by Temperature, Lubrication media (If not sealed), Possibility of axis misalignment, rotational accuracy etc. Go through https://www.skf.com/in or https://lnkd.in/g75DFce4 to understand this. This will give you an edge on questions from bearings & their applications. #mechanical #design #interviews #bearings
