Leading others involves empowering and motivating them to achieve their full potential. And leading at all times means being consistent and reliable, even in challenging situations. This is the leadership strategy I recommend to the executive teams and boards I advise and I faithfully follow myself as a leader. Ask, Don't tell... If you have ever had a coaching call with me or been in one of HPL's leadership programs, you have probably heard me say this. This ideology for me stemmed from the book, Leading to Greatness, by Jim Reid. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to shift their leadership style to that of a coach. I just wanted to take a moment to share this quote from his book with you: "Great leaders don't tell people what they should do. They ask those people what they want to achieve and help them figure out themselves how to get there. Asking the right questions lets the coachee own the agenda..." A great thing to remember as we work towards making that shift from boss to high-performing leaders. #leadership #coaching #leadershipdevelopment
