These technical challenges are compounded by a shortage of skilled engineers with domain and AI expertise. AI plays a crucial role in the future of digital twins, moving towards more advanced and transparent systems that combine physical and data-driven models. The development of hybrid digital twins, which blend physics-based and sensor data-driven models, promises greater accuracy and real-world applicability. The future architectures of digital twins, proposed in this articel, include self-generating digital twins, hierarchies of digital twins for complex systems management, and meshed networks of digital twins for interconnected systems optimisation. These advancements are dependent on continued innovation in sensor technology, AI, and data security, moving towards the realisation of ambient intelligence across various domains.

1moSounds very interesting. It’s about time we stop thinking of just catching the bad guys. This could be a good start. One thing that might be needed is a scientific method (Pixel Densities) for defining camera and lens combination versus distance and object of interest sizes. Hardly waiting to try it out.
