The Opinion Festival / Arvamusfestival may be over, but the good thoughts and ideas still remain. This year, I had the opportunity organize not only one, but two panel discussion, on of which took a closer look to #eu digital wallet and its impact to #estonia. The discussion panel was moderated by Henrik Roonemaa and joined by Rainer Olt from Eesti Pank | Bank of Estonia, Mattias Lass from Cybernetica and electronic identification expert Riho Kurg. Various topics from electronic identification, digital euro and cybersecurity were examined. Despite the fact that the digital wallet will be available for use in the autumn of 2026 and digital euro even later, we among other EU countries, are taking steps to prepare for the solutions for the best possible way. However, there are still some questions raised and clarity to be set for the future ahead. Big thanks to the participants for the insightful discussion! PS! Had a productive conference today in Brussels, focusing on migration and identity management. It was insightful to hear from experts on the area like Kaija Kirch, Henry Dillen, Geert Verbauhede, Marc Sulon, Cid Catala and Clara Guerra. Mikko Hakkarainen also shared valuable insights on digitalization, especially regarding visa and travel document digitization, emphasizing the importance of efficient processes. ⛓️📊 There was discussions regarding the significance of a robust identity management chain, live enrollment, biometrics, human knowledge and the need for uniform standards to enhance trust and reliability. Key takeaways include the importance of trust in digital security mechanisms and the necessity for adaptation and evolution in our systems. -AI, detecting abnormalities for an example. 🤖 But also the importance of the competence our officers and specialists have: without those this would not be possible. Correct systems with correct training = success! ✅ Looking forward to future discussions and advancements in this important field. 🌍🇪🇺
