On the heels of recent reports that ratings for the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Vegas Golden Knights television broadcasts have more than doubled since moving from Bally Sports to free-to-air broadcast, the writing is seemingly on the wall for RSNs. Beyond the exorbitant costs of subscribing to an RSN either DTC or through a traditional MVPD/vMVPD platform, the fact that the Bally Sports streaming apps are laced with bugs and stability issues should be reason-enough for sport leagues to pull the plug and move the games to broadcast partners. #rsn #ballysports #ota #streaming #sports #sport #regionalsportsnetworks

In the crowded streaming video space, it's important to consider not just the services like Netflix or Disney , but the platforms most people access those services from. Roku currently has 73.5 million active accounts worldwide and they are growing every year. That 73.5m represents a 10 million account increase from this time last year. The streamers and digital video apps are important - but so are the platforms.
After the final whistle blew on the FIFA Women’s World Cup, we took a look at how the competition inspired streamers on Roku. ⚽️ Learn more about Roku's Stream of Thought Program: https://lnkd.in/d84eABwf #Streaming #Advertising #WorldCup

🎞️A shift away from TV?🎞️ We’ve always said on the podcast that women’s sport is a clean slate. We can take it in any direction we choose. ❌ Last week BBC and ITV both declined to show England Women’s rugby matches on their channels even after being offered the rights for free. 🎉 On the flip side, New Zealand Football last week signed a partnership with FIFA to live stream all women’s and men’s National League games for free. ➡️ This begs the question – is it time to shift away from traditional media platforms and explore other mediums to showcase the game? 📲 We all know how addictive TikTok is, a livestream on a laptop is easier to access than a structured slot on TV, social media offers a more accessible, interactive way for fans to engage with players and the game, Apple TV is having huge success streaming MLS in the States, social media platforms and streaming platforms are more times than not cheaper than Sky Sports….. the examples are extensive. While it sucks the women’s game continues to be undervalued, this could also offer the chance to reassess how we engage with the sport. #womenssport #womensfootball #womeninsport #womenssoccer #broadcasting #nzfootball

Digital ads are the future of advertising. According to experts, there are several reasons why there are more advertisers on digital this ICC Cricket World Cup. Two of the main reasons, according to them, are the free streaming option on mobile phones and a lower entry point on the digital platform compared to TV. Some experts say digital buying is substantially more efficient than TV, though there are some who feel it depends on what the brand’s expectations are. What's your thought on this? #ICCWorldCup #iccworldcup2023 #WorldCup23 #digitalads #digitaladvertising #digitalmarketing #socialmediamarketing #marketingmemes #yrmedia #chennai

EFL clubs have unanimously approved a five-year, £935 million deal with Sky Sports for the seasons 2024/25 to 2028/29. The agreement, comprising £895 million in guaranteed payments and £40 million in marketing benefits, marks a 50% increase from the current rights deal. Sky Sports will exclusively broadcast over 1,000 matches annually, maintaining the Saturday blackout period but introducing more streaming options, replacing the iFollow service. The deal enhances fan planning with longer notice periods for TV selections, and financial distributions are set to rise by 46% for Championship clubs and 25% for Leagues One and Two. #EFL #Broadcasting #skysports #commercial
